  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi guys, new to the forum here. Just recently purchased a 2012 genesis sedan 3.8. I was wondering if anyone has ls swapped a sedan before? I see it done all the tome on the coupes, but never seen a sedan. Just wondering if it’s possible.

This is wild.... I was just going to start a thread in this 09-14 sedan forum, "Anyone out there doing/seen a sedan LS swapped?!?" No kidding...

I know...I know... LS, LS, LS... BUT, there is nothing out there like one for the price and support (not even close!) I went to the Holley LS fest last weekend in Bowling Green KY, and you just wouldn't believe the vendor info./ support there.

I hope wonder....hope....there is someone out there who has done an LS swap into a sedan! I would love to do an LT (2014-up) swap into one someday. That would be fun!

After seeing the 5.0 I was like damn! I can just imagine one with a ls in it. But so far, nothing.

Having a 5.0 makes the car all that much nicer. An LS in a Genesis would definitely rock. However I would not be able to chop up a car like this to make it work! There is Definitely enough room for one.

I am new, just purchased a 2012 sedan after looking for one for three years. I like this idea, what about the trans, would that be swapped as well?

Anything is possible.. morenlike how deep are your pockets and how long you willing to spend not driving the new car you just picked up haha

The Genesis (BH) sedan has a nice and strong BMW ZF tranny. I am not sure how a custom shop would help adapt this transmission. Maybe think about an automatic based BMW M8 or something. I dont know. LOL
Me I would not dump that type of coin into the sedan. At worst, put a supercharger or a single turbo on it and call it a day. :)

This is only true for 09 to 11

12 + received the 8spd auto

Only in 6 speed form, and even then only on the V8. The 8 speed is a Hyundai unit. They were originally going to use ZF but then by the time they got to production, they'd switched. There was also originally supposed to be a 10 speed available but well, plans and all that.

I owned a 2010 4.6 with the 6 speed and a 2012 5.0 with the Hyundai 8 speed, and honestly, the 8 speed was smoother, though in the interest of full disclosure, my 6 speed shifted a little hard at times, which is one of the reasons I traded the car in.

I can’t lie I been patiently waiting for a kit or something to come out but I’m just gonna have my mechanic make custom mounts for it I was planning on going 6.0 out of a truck or 6.2 if I can find one for a reasonable price and to be put in for a reasonable price I want the car to preformed like a Chevy but look like a Hyundai ultimate sleeper

Your best bet is to find an LQ4/9 (third gen motors), or an LY6 (fourth gen motor). I would stay away from the aluminum block motors personally. They can develop cracks in the cylinder walls (known issue). The iron block motors mentioned above are mostly bulletproof. I speak from experience on the aluminum block motors sadly.

You could also do a 4.8, throw some ARP head studs in it, change all the gaskets out on it, and put a turbo on it. The stock bottom end on those motors is very good and you could easily make 500rwhp+++ with that motor and still have a very reliable driver. Issue with that much power is no LSD lol. HotrodTV has an article out there where they made over 1100hp to the motor on a 4.8 with just a large turbo, stock bottom end, 116 octane, and ARP head studs. That motor is stout.

Sorry I replied so late but I still haven’t swap the motor yet but it’s still a possibility because my friend just ls swap his s10 with a 6.0 I’m pretty sure he could get v8 in my car easily looking to buy a motorcycle while he works on my car 🤷🏽‍♂️🤔👀

I know I’m 2 years late but I’m currently doing a LS swap into my 2015 5.0. Looks like I’ll be the first to do it💪🏾🔥

Best of luck to you, hope it works without a lot of hiccups. Was the original engine blown?

It lost compression in all cylinders on bank 2, I didn’t want to spend $4-$6k for a used engine and a year later have some other issues. I hate the fact that you can’t really do anything to them or get parts from the parts stores if needed. The last 2 years I’ve been saying that if my 5.0 go out I was going to swap it. I’m doing turbo 5.3L

Nope as of now.Lol I want to run long tube headers with an x pipe, I just have to figure out which ones will fit. I’m using Lexus LS400 LS swap mounts and the wholes line directly up to the inward bolt hole that the factory Genesis engine bolts to
