Figures - Mirror fully deploys. Keeps running afterwards - strange.Yup. Nylon gear issue
Try to stop the auto fold of the mirrors for a few days and enable it again and check.Got in the car today and while folding out the side mirrors I heard the drivers mirror click while moving - is it about to croak?
If that doesn't do it, I wonder if is a plastic gear that stripped.Try to stop the auto fold of the mirrors for a few days and enable it again and check.
I don't use auto-fold - I use them manually when needed.Try to stop the auto fold of the mirrors for a few days and enable it again and check.
Probably the plastic worm gear - it's a known issue. Fortunately, there's a long thread on the DIY repair - unfortunately, it's a PITA.... Still beats going to the dealer, they'll just try to sell you a new one for $1K.If that doesn't do it, I wonder if is a plastic gear that stripped.
Worst case, you can buy a used part on eBay and paint it and have it installed, less than half the quote of what the dealer is going to charge you for the part and the job.I don't use auto-fold - I use them manually when needed.

Yeah... I've thought about doing that.Worst case, you can buy a used part on eBay and paint it and have it installed, less than half the quote of what the dealer is going to charge you for the part and the job.
True. That's why I hadn't been using "auto" since I bought it....Yeh,frankly I don’t use the auto fold feature, the chitzsey plastic gears will not hold up and as stated the dealer will want 1k to replace the whole damn mirror instead of just repairing yours.
