  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Happy Memorial Day to all and the famlies that are affected by their love ones who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Last week the suspension light came on and the rear suspension dropped while driving. Our local Hyundai/Genesis store diagnose the problem to be the suspension valve block assembly, Thank goodness for the extended warranty as the repair is $1600 parts and labor.

Has anyone had to replace a air suspension valve block? Please advise.

Update: My Equus is finally back with me. The service advisor told me that this is the first time he has seen this part fail. The part was actually on back order, but it came in under 6 days. The part is made by Continental in Germany, the same supplier to Mercedes if I am not mistaken. So those German rebuilt valve block, would probably hold some merit.

Great to hear you're good to go.

Good morning All,

I will research with some of my old suppliers to see options for rebuilding this component. Some parts have been discontinued, but this happens with all marques on low-volume parts. My friend is the area representative for Kia and I will try to build a relationship with the Hyundai representative to get some insight on the commitment to the Equus.

My 2015 went through two compressors and 3 air shocks to the tune of $13k total. Was just in for 3rd time and it was a melted sensor. Extended Mac care covered about 90% of all of these but it's time to move on.
Probably looking at 2019 G90 ultimate

@the_kid_hartford I am sorry to hear your unfortunate experience. Was it misdiagnosed from the beginning or those replaced parts failed repeatedly? My Equus had the original front struts replaced in 2019 and I just replaced the suspension valve block. I still have the original compressor and rear air springs. With the valve block being a Continental part, I wonder if the whole air suspension system is Continental system that Hyundai contracted and sourced.

Hyundai is a company has been very smart with their engineering moves and has showed success with their moves. They produced their own 8 speed for the 2nd generation after using the ZF 6 speed in the 1st generation US Equus. Where as BMW and VW groups are sourcing their transmissions from ZF to this date. If the rush to EV wasn't so quick, (which I predict that Hyundai will be the dominant global player) we would see an evolved 3.5 TT ICE that would rival the BMW TT 3.0 engines in power and efficiency.

Appreciate it. $13k was one shot and then a couple weeks later the melted sensor. Car has been solid from day 1.

Wow, that sounds excessive. Please PM me so I can give you my email address. I want to review the invoice as I am an ASE-certified technician and a fleet service manager by profession.

Please google this shop. Unionline Garage Pennington NJ.....they are Bosch certified and work on all my cars. two compressors failed, original cracked and the other failed. 3 air shocks failed, all replaced with OEM parts. Plus more. They have been stand up guys from get to and even offer loaners which I am not aware of too many independent mechanics that offer loaners.

Good evening Kid,

I apologize as I missed your response. Unfortunately my 2014 Equus is back at dealer with air suspension concerns. Two rear air springs and all four height sensors. The shop you used is like the shop I ran 12 years ago. Which was GermanAutoWorld www.germanautoworld.com which was Bosch certified as well.

How do I get my system refilled. Dealer says they Dont have the equpment

The suspension compressor fills the system up.

I just made my own filler today My pancake compressor isn't quite big enough but was able to get air into the system and got close to the minimum air mass amount that they want in the system But I believe I still have a leak somewhere as I can't get my rear bags back up

Pictures of my filler are in another post
