  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2023 Genesis G90

Was your buying experience good, bad, or somewhere in between?
I didn't have a problem with it, but this is my first luxury purchase.

The closest before was my Kia K900, and although a very nice car, was still a Kia, leased at a general Kia dealership, so I've nothing to compare to.

I ordered via the Genesis Concierge/One program.

I went in, talked with the sales manager and met the service manager. I then talked with the finance team, signed my paperwork and was out of there in under 2 hours.

Hope that's helpful.

I really love all the new changes. I wish we got the long wheelbase one and the cooler from the Equus, but otherwise it's such a great car. In Canada they just have the one choice with the E supercharger, and it's $115k all-in according to a dealer email. Still not bad compared to 150k+ for competitors if you add the rear seat package and a few things.

One thing I'm not clear on is, did they not include the leg or foot rest for the North American model? I haven't done a test drive yet.

Wrong video?

With a 20% increase in price for the G90, I say no thank you to Genesis. That alone will kill the North American sales to the point Genesis my just give it up. We're not getting 20% more car.

Maybe your car was priced 20% too low.

Also the dollar had an average inflation rate of 3.86% per yearbetween 2017 and today, producing a cumulative price increase of 20.83%.

$100K + markup + tax 10.25% is a bit rich for me. I will reevaluate in a few years.

I was referring to the 20% increase from 2022 to 2023. NOT 2017 to 2023. And you knew that. I also wasn't comparing the difference between the cars from 1952 to 2023. And you know that too. So please don't try to twist what I said into your negative agenda narrative.

Was there a price increase between 2017-2022? I remember my 2015 Genesis/G80 never had a price increase from 2015-2020. When the 2021 came out, it cost a lot more but taking inflation into account, it was only about $6k more than the previous model and I'm sure they added $6k worth of new tech over the old one. Manufacturers generally don't increase prices between model years and they readjust pricing when a new generation comes out.

Don't forget Trudeau's new luxury tax... in addition to GST and PST, it's another 10% in luxury tax... in BC, this car is touching $140k... no thanks...

Whether all the extra tech, amenities and luxury is worth the price premium is up to the individual buyer, but based on the reviews, this is the 1st G90/Equus model that can stand toe to toe w/ the Germans.

Last month sales hit 104 (up from 80 for Aug), so we'll see if sales keep increasing as supply improves.

Regardless, the new G90 has already been a huge success for Genesis in Korea (where the price increase hasn't put a damper on demand) - selling about as much in a month as the LS will do in sales for the entire year in the US.

I think that would apply for everything, so you'd still be coming out ahead. Not to say I would pay 140k for any car, but I'll gladly buy it used over a similar car that's tens of thousands of dollars more.

Yeah, that's what I meant... I'm not paying $140k for any car... lol... maybe in 5 years and I'm looking to upgrade, I'll be able to find a demo at a steep discount like my 2020. Another way around it is lease it for 3 years and buy it out later on if you want to own it...

Actually, I didn’t know you were comparing to 2022. You have a G90 but don’t say what year.
the 2022 was a bargain. The 2023 is a very different car and perhaps less of a bargain but in my opinion still competes well against it competition. I think many reviewers would agree with that.
I would further disagree with your statement that the pricing will kill NA sales and may make Genesis give up. Let’s see what happens.

People will whine about the new G90's price hike just like the people who whined about the original G90's price after it increased from the Hyundai Equus. I said this would happen pages ago before the price was even announced. Ultimately it doesn't change the fact that it still undercuts all the comparably equipped competition and is a vastly superior car to some of them (A8 and LS500).

My Verbier White with Obsidian Black / Bordeaux Brown Two-tone interior g90 came out of PPF and tinting yesterday so I thought I'd share a few shots. I'll be updating this post with interior shots later.

For those curious I included a shot of the rear with all the badges removed because I preferred to do a full PPF wrap instead of using cutouts around the letters. I'll be putting the GENESIS logo back on but leaving the model designation and AWD off.

A guy also happened to have brought in a G90 after my car went in for PPF so there is a side by side shot with the two cars as mine cures.

You want to compete with the Mercedes S class. You better start to offer the V8 again. Foolish mistake.
