  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2023 Genesis G90

These people are funny like hell.

Has the dealer allowed you to test drive the g90 before buying?

Thanks, but no thanks. They can keep the car.

Although the dealership probably has a good idea that someone will pay all or nearly all of the inflated price.

Well after waiting a few weeks, I picked up my 2023 G90. I had ordered the blue exterior and white interior, which I do love.

Mind you this is my first Genesis. Previous vehicles were a Stinger and before that a Kia K900.

So far I'm loving the vehicle. Lots to learn and play around with.

Will post some photos when I resize them.

How's the white interior wearing so far?

You want to compete with the Mercedes S class. You better start to offer the V8 again. Foolish mistake.

The NA Tau V8 doesn't compete w/ the twin turbo V8s the Germans offer, and for BMW and Audi, one has to opt for the performance variant to get the TTV8.

There just wasn't enough sales to justify offering the V8.

Unless plans have changed, Genesis had stated that there are no plans to electrify the G90 like they have done w/ the G80.

With the industry ditching V6's and going back to a straight 6 config, why did Genesis build a new V6?

Lexus and JLR are going back to straight 6, BMW never went V6 and the only V6's from Merc were a result from the cost-cutting Chrysler days. Audi... well, I don't think they're ever leaving the V6, VW needs V6's for their FWD cars.

For a luxury car, you want the engine that vibrates the least and a straight 6 runs as smooth as a V8.

Maybe they know something they do not know.
I did not have any problems with v6 on my 2017 g90, and that says a lot since I moved from v8 g80 (good ole times they made g80s with v8 :)

^ It is a bit of an odd decision, but guess they figured it wasn't worth the cost since they don't offer the G90 in as many markets as they do the G80, and sales in the US & Korea wouldn't recoup the investment.

Having trouble building enough eG80s and G90s to meet demand as it is probably also played a part; maybe they'll rethink this when they resolve the production capacity and battery supply issues.

These "auto procurers" are hilarious. Next they'll be padding the sticker price $3500 for a custom mixture of 78% nitrogen and 21% oxygen in your tires, and a special concoction of antifreeze and dihydrogen monoxide in the cooling system.

The G80 is sold in more markets because emissions means that it can be sold only with a 4-cylinder, which the G90 doesn't have. If the G90 were an EV, Genesis could have definitely offered it in more markets like China and Europe because they would no longer have to deal with the emissions penalties from a large displacement six-cylinder.

No question battery supply is holding them back with their other EV's, but the G90 was always a relatively low volume car and bringing an extra couple thousand to China and Europe wouldn't hurt their supply chain that hard.

someone bought that thing... Perpetrators would have never existed without their enablers.

Thanks for the detailed response. I guess my approach to colors is quite laissez faire - it has to be easy to maintain clean. My last 2 cars were (and is) white and I totally love it. Now with that said, there's no way in hell I will have a white interior - and dealers keep getting those colors 🤦‍♂️ Oh, and the exterior CANNOT be black, period. I have a lot of respect to those who buy black cars and are ready to invest in its maintenance - I'm just not one of them :)

I hear that ppf'ing matte paint is almost a must as the scratches are highly visible and cannot be buffed out. Isn't ppf'ing matte paint makes the appearance glossy, thus negating the benefit of a matte paint to start with?

And since you have that matte paint, which type / brand ppf did you install? Another Q: I see you removed the letters before the wrapping, which makes perfect sense. How are you going to put them back on to ensure their perfect alignment and all that, i.e., do you have some kind of template or something?
To be honest I'm not sure about the brand, I focused more on a high quality reputable PPF dealer with a good track record than a brand of PPF. Between their reputation and the 12 year warranty, on the PPF itself, thats all I needed to be happy.

As @DaleNet said, to avoid the car gaining any gloss characteristic, you just put a matte ppf on the car.

Regarding the letters I just spoke to the dealership when I was buying the car and I told them I intended to remove the letters temporarily for the PPF and expected they would put them back on, and they said yes. Normally the dealer will have a template unless for any reason Genesis did not distribute one. So we will put the GENESIS letters back on at the first 1,000km service, and will keep the smaller logos off (G90, AWD etc) because I think those are messy.

Think the decision has more to do w/ what Genesis thinks they can command price-wise in certain markets and the cost-benefit ratio.

Genesis sells the G80 in Australia (including the 3.5T) but doesn't offer the G90.

The 3.5T G80 is already around $100k AU, so probably figure not worth the cost of tooling to build a RHD G90 (even if also offered it in the UK), much less doing a RHD eG90, for what they would do in sales.

And w/ Genesis struggling to meet demand for the G90 even after negotiating w/ the union to increase production, there's no point in spending more $ to develop an electric variant when they can't keep up w/ demand as is.

As for China, despite that pricey launch celebration last year, Genesis still hasn't started sales in China b/c they simply don't have the supply.

Seems like dealers get an inordinate number of cars with white interior... Well, I guess if you have a chauffeur and butler to drive you around - that's a great color. But taking care of that interior yourself... Umm.. No.

Oh, and I had so much fun automating data pull from genesis inventory lol :D

About how you'd expect. The floor mats need a bit more care than darker mata. The leather and other areas are fine though.

yeah, probably covering white floor mats with black tuxmats is not a good idea and i'm concerned how white leather will stand to the daily jeans test over a year or two... but then you don't care that much since you are leasing :)

Considering most take their Genesis service to a Hyundai dealer, why not consider the new Hyundai flagship:
