  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2015 Genesis 5.0 I bought new. Never had an issue until about 2 months ago it started acting weird. Reverse camera would not display. Then it would lock up every now and then. Now it is permanently locked on the initial bootup screen when you first start the car and will not change to any other screen.

Has anyone else had this issue? Anyone know how to fix it?

Have you checked the trunk wiring harness to see if any wires are cracked/frayed? It may be a short.

Yep. First place to look is the trunk hinge wiring on the right side. Many here have had similar backup cam problems from frayed wires and have posted photos.

The camera will work while in reverse but the display will return to the bootup screen once in drive.

I have same problem as yours. Went to dealer and they did every kind of reset. It didnt work at all. Seems weird! They said the head unit might have some internal fail. They recommend to replace the head unit for $4500 not including labor. I went home and took the head unit out myself. Sent it out to get it fixed or even if I replace the unit. It would still be 1/3 of the price the deal quoted me.

Any updates on a fix for this issue?

Yeah. I got my fix. Not at the dealer tho.
I sent my head unit to a car radio repair service based in Burnsville, Minnesota. Everything works flawlessly now

Could you post the shop and cost of repair?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

That's the link to their shop. However, you need to know how to dismantle the dashboard to get the head unit out and ship it to the repair shop. I believe there are many youtube video showing how to do that, requiring very few simple tools. The cost plus shipping all together comes about $750. It is much better than the $4500 the dealer quote me.

Thanks for the info and follow up KayN...

Here is another link I believe to the same company that does the repair. OEM Factory Original Car Audio Radio Stereo DVD Player Navigation Replacement and Repair

Here is a link to video showing how to remove the unit and also another repair company in CA....
Dont replace it! From what I have known, if the dealer replace the Head Unit, that Unit is not manufactured new. It's also a broken one that has been fixed up. So why spend thousands of dollar when you can get it fix for a few hundred bucks. Good luck guys!
