  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am buying my car soon in a few months after my 3 year lease is up in February 2023. Why not, 18,500 miles on my 20 G70 and it is like brand new still and I have hooked it up nicely.

So I asked the original sales guy for extended warranty information and costs because the car will only cost me I think $23k LOL Steal because I calculated it out since I bought it and I save about $10k-$12k under the cost it was originally and if I traded it in right away I would get a bigger profit which I won't because I love it too much.

I know it is due to low unexpected mileage.

He said -
If you did not modified the engine in any way and it's a factory stock engine, than you can extend the warranty up to 8 years/ 100k miles. The cost of the warranty is $2'344.00
*Covers everything other than wearable items (like: tires, break pads, bulbs exe)
$0.00 deductible here at Fitzgerald's. Anywhere else in US $100.
It's one of the best warranty offered and it's very unexpansive considering it's up to 8 years warranty.

It's also cancelable at any time you want and transferable to any next vehicle you'll buy in the future.

So I said it has CAI on it and the Velossa Litkit.

I am unsure if this will matter because the Genesis dealership close to me where I take it says that those do not matter.

I am hoping it will not and that when he says it cover everything that it is the same as the factory warranty it came with as it sounds like it.

Anyone have experience with this. I will die if I have to remove the parts or removed them every time the engine has an issue if ever.

I was under the impression that if you leased the car then purchased it you would receive the full 10 year 100,000 mile warranty

For the "powertrain," but not for anything else. This is true even without a lease being involved.

I leased and then purchased and got the full 3 year 36k miles plus 100k power train.

Yes, I'm just saying that the OP seems to be asking for more, such as the coverage of the 3/36 for the remaining 10/100. I wonder if Terdbath understands that the powertrain warranty is very limited.

Yeah I understand all that. That’s his quote to me about the 8 year extension.

I’m just waiting to see if they won’t allow it due to the CAI.

Probably should have returned to stock before trying to get the warranty.

While a CAI cant void your warranty, it can be a cause to deny warranty if the CAI is found to be a reason for the failure.

For an aftermarket warranty like this, they weigh the risks vs rewards and providing additional warranty to a modified car, is a risk most wont want to take.

I can remove it 🤷‍♂️ He’s just asking them but they never saw it yet.

The 10/100,000 is only for the original owner. Not if you buy used. What he may be concerned about is that if he buys out the lease, he might not be considered the original owner, the leasing company was.

If he buys out of his own lease by Genesis, he will be considered the original owner. At least it was for me in California.

Yeah I am buying it.

I’m going to email the sales guy tomorrow and be specific about the 10/100 and why I’d have to pay for it.

I need specifics on why I must pay.

If Genesis financial holds the lease you can ask them.

Yeah they do. I got it new from Genesis so they have it. Normally they are helpful but the dealership was asking their finance people.

All fir a stupid CAI that was fine during the lease lol

They may come back and say no problem but I’m waiting

Never thought about extending the New Vehicle Warranty. The existing on mine was 5 year 60k. I suppose if OP is worried about stuff other than powertrain then $2400 might be worth it to cover all the electronics etc. I can just imagine all the sensors, swivel lights, adaptive suspension parts etc that can go bad after 5 yr 60 k but before 10 yr 100k.

Extending the New Vehicle Warranty did not cover my back up camera. Read the Exclusions Section.

Just did. What does it say regarding the backup camera.

If your dealership pushes you to pay for an extended warranty, I recommend you to at least check out YAA. I think it stands for Your Auto Advocates or something. I priced it out for my 22 G70, and it was around $1400 for 10 years. I didn't pull the trigger yet because I think the price doesn't go up until I hit 12k miles. Extra research doesn't hurt. Also, CAI doesn't matter, but they are easy to take off. The Litkit, not so much since you have to remove the bumper. I would remove that stuff only if I have actual motor issues that way, they can't blame it on that. But if I have transmission issues or anything non-motor-related, then I would say leave them on. Bring some coffee and donuts for the service team. ahaha!

On my Hyundai Protection Plan, item #14. The last sentence, Quote "Near object avoidance systems and all laser radar cruise control components, vinyl and convertible tops;"

You should read the entire item # 14. Other plans might cover different items, you need to read the EXCLUSIONS FROM COVERAGE.
