1. You don’t have to replace the black panels. Just remove the Crome (Polished Stainless) covers. I don’t recommend removing them because you probably will have a hard time removing the tape adhesive from the black post.Hey all, I need your help. I just purchased a 2018 G80 Sport in great condition except the previous owner put chrome panel covers over the existing black pillars. My question is does anyone know where I can find new black ones? Are they hard to install? View attachment 49836View attachment 49837
Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I'm having a problem with the panels themselves. The top part is starting to come off causing a fluttering sound in the wind on the highway. I'd like to replace them, do you have any info on removal and installations?1. You don’t have to replace the black panels. Just remove the Crome (Polished Stainless) covers. I know you don’t want the Stainless Covers, but for anyone wanting to install new covers, my advice is to install them wet. Remove backing from tape. With water flowing, LIGHTLY place new cover on black post. If not on exact correct position, you can still move it. You can also use water with soap. Only after in place, push down on it. Once water or water and soap dries, you will have a very difficult time removing it. (See “1” above).
Again. My advice, leave it alone.
Update: I found a guy who was able to remove the chrome panels and restore the original black panels back to brand new condition. They are likely stick on. Check this out. They offer install instructions, that may help remove it.
I don't know why it's showing "Security Check". It's a link on carid.com.

hey did he say how he restored them?Update: I found a guy who was able to remove the chrome panels and restore the original black panels back to brand new condition.
I am not sure on the restoration but he said he used heat for short spells and adhesive remover. I think the chrome panels were installed early in the cars life that there probably wasn’t too much wear and tear on the black panels besides getting the residue off. It took him 4 hours and 300.00.hey did he say how he restored them?
I see I think the previous owner also had your wheels chromed. I never seen a set like that before.I am not sure on the restoration but he said he used heat for short spells and adhesive remover. They did. It was of things that I liked but I have always wanted a Genesis. So it closed the deal for me. I knew I would get the panels off or replaced.I see I think the previous owner also had your wheels chromed. I never seen a set like that before.
