  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I’m new to electric cars. I’ve noticed that my 2023 G80 electrified has a high pitch humming type sound quite noticeable at slow speeds. Is this normal?

I noticed that the humming sound occurs at speeds up to 25 mph but above that it goes away. Therefore, I believe that this sound is meant to be a warning signal for pedestrians.

They wouldn't use high pitch for a warning sound since high frequency hearing fails off very noticeably with age. It is probably coming from the DC-to-AC inverter for the motor. It would be unintentional, but unavoidable for the most part.

I just took delivery of mine last week and I noticed it once I pulled in the garage. Thought it was just me but glad to hear it’s not an issue with the battery. Had a Tesla previously and not a sound. I can live with the noise. This car puts Tesla to shame except for battery range.

interesting. Appreciate the info. Makes me feel better about it. Still, so in love with this Genesis ev. Not a big Tesla fan. Elon’s batteries and charging network are Tesla’s biggest strengths. We’ll catch up in time. The luxury and drive of this G80 EV is dream compared anything Tesla puts out…except for 0-60 times. So impressed with Genesis!

Thank you again for the link.

The sound only occurs below 25 mph. i’m convinced it is intentional and meant to be a warning sound for pedestrians.
