  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello, I’m reading thru a lot of threads but wanted to post and ask for input? Do you guys think a 2015 3.8 rwd ultimate is worth 12.2k?

Guy tells me he has mainly traveling freeway with it and changes oil every 5K. The moonroof was replaced about 2 years ago. Same with power trunk.

When I test drove the vehicle it was very smooth no issues and it’s any vibration that I noticed at the 30-40mph range

Any recs? Thank you!

If it's clean cosmetically with a clear title, that's probably a pretty good price. I just paid $25k for a 23k mi 5.0/ultimate and I spent a long time looking at listings before I found it. In all that time, I don't remember any of the higher miles 5.0s being close to that cheap, so I gotta figure that's a good price for a 3.8

Sounds reasonable if it's clean in and out. Might need spark plugs at some point. I would also check for a whine from the rear differential.

The other thing -- it sounds like you're dealing with a private party owner, so you have a good chance to get a read on what kind of life it's had. What's their house look like, maintenance-wise. Is it the kind of car that comes with a bulging envelope full of oil change records, tire rotation printouts, etc?

When you start to get up over 50-60k miles, I always felt like use and maintenance start to weigh a lot higher. Meaning I'd rather have a 100k mile car that had been religiously washed and serviced over a 75k mile one that's been perpetually overdue for oil changes, etc.

Thanks for the advice! I didn't a get a chance to evaluate the rear differential.

As for maintenance, it seems like the owner had done a really good job. It was work car so he always get records of maintenance, tire rotations...etc. And I agree, it's always good to look at the owners situation. Thanks again!

Sound good, but I would do a water hose test on the moon-roof( with the owners permission) to see if the moonroof drains actually drain or leak into the cabin A- pillars or headliner. I would also test the power trunk functions and check to see if the rear taillights and rear camera work since a bad trunk harness affects both.

If everything works then it seems like a good deal.
