Help needed. Cannot make calls out with carplay

We just got our gv70 and love it. One issue we can’t solve, phone works well from the dash and over Bluetooth normally. but when we are plugged in for CarPlay, we cannot make calls from th phone/CarPlay. Nothing happens when you click the contact. Incoming calls still work. Any advice?

A couple things to note in case you did not know. When the iPhone is plugged into the left USB port and CarPlay is active, you have to press the button a little longer than normal to bring up Siri to make a phone call instead of the Genesis onboard voice control. You cannot use the Genesis voice recognition to call out while connected to CarPlay.

Also make sure you have the last iOS and Genesis navigation update

I have Android auto and can still use both AA and the Genesis system. It a Short press of the steering wheel button to call up the genesis system and long press to call up Carplay and Android Auto. I can tell which one I have by the voice I get in response. I don't think that carplay is different, but you never know.

Where are you clicking the contact? I don't have any carplay screen that lets me do that. I have to ask Siri to call whoever, and that works great. The contact list in the car for Bluetooth is not used for CarPlay at all, and with CarPlay there is no Bluetooth connection for it to use.

That is why I made the comment I made. The OP said he had CarPlay so I stated a fact about how CarPlay operates, not sure why there needs to be a discussion on how AA does or does not work.

Look, I was just trying to help. Maybe it worked the same with carplay as it did with AA. I even stated that I don't know if it worked the same way. So I thought I would give him or her something else to try.

I would suggest that from now on, when you see the picture of Alfred E Neuman, just ignore the post. I don't want to annoy you anymore than I already have.
