  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all. The silver center console knob for DIS gets so hot that you can't touch it if the car is left outside and the sun hits it. Anybody else have this problem and what was the solution?

Place a dust rag over it.

My car has been in 106 degree heat with 99% humidity and its not a problem.

Could be why mine does not get hot. I also keep a cloth over the DIS knob, but not for that reason. I keep the cloth over it because I drink my "Cafe Mocha's" and other drinks, and I don't want to take a chance of spilling anything on the DIS knob, so I keep it covered. When I finish drinking my mocha, half the time, I forget to remove the cloth.

Thanks. Mine gets extremely hot to the touch if in direct sunlight. Guess the only fix is to cover the knob.

Tint + rear shade up + front window shade helps. Mine does get hot, but not so hot I can't touch it. I always run with the rear shade up, so its up when I park. I'm also tinted all around (can't remember the %, but its the max permitted in state). Finally, I put up those "pop open" shades in the front when I park. All those combined probably help keep it bearable.

Thanks for info.
