In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hi all -

I got the physical keycard to keep in my wallet from the dealership and I have it setup in the car which I confirmed that it is attached to the car. I also have my phone key attached and my fingerprint/facial scanning.

I was at Aria Las Vegas this past weekend and gave them the physical key card and they ended up having to call me to say that it just wasnt working. When I tried using it, it wasn't working either. Can you only have either phone or physical card key attached or both?

Also where do you put the physical card to start it? The image on the card itself indicates an area that doesn't exist as it seems to be for the other Genesis models (put the card above the shifter and on the bottom of the center console but the GV60 has a gap there.

It took me two weeks to figure out how the car key works, and it totally appears to be broken if the user doesn't know how to use it.

You have to leave it on the driver side handle (right of the 3 etched lines) for ~5 whole seconds for it to lock and unlock, be very patient.

The card needs to sit in the center console Qi phone charging cradle to be recognized for starting the vehicle.

Your valet probably didn't know how to use it.

Tried this and still didnt work. May be something wrong with my key card. Going to unpair it and see if I can fix it this weekend.

I purchased a GV60 performance in December. the keycard doesn't seem to work. I've tried holding it at the handle for prolonged periods. I confirmed in the vehicle settings the serial # of the card key is present. I then tried deleting the key. I brought in both keyfobs and was able to successfully pair the card key again by putting it into the charing pad. However, it still doesn't seem to unlock the door. Just wondering if anyone had hints on how to get the keycard to work to unlock the door. Thanks so much.

I have both setup and both work fine. To open the door you have to put the car just to the right of the 3 lines on the door handle and then it will unlock. To start the car you have to put the key card in the wireless phone charger slot.

Key goes on the charging pad to start, at least that is what the manual reads.

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried holding the key card in the location mentioned to the right of the 3 lines on the handle for prolonged periods but the car doesn't unlock. If I put the key card in the charing pad the key card is recognized at that location so I can start the car (I made sure the fob and iphone were not near the car).

The car unlocks fine with my iphone or key FOB. Just wondering, is the hardware in the door that recognizes the key card different from the hardware that recognizes the iphone or FOB to unlock the door? I think the FOB use radio waves, iphone uses NFC, and the key card is RFID, which I think are all different technologies?

If so, maybe it is hardware issue. I suppose it could be key issue as well, though it is brand new and it is detected at the charing pad location.. Perhaps the key has a defect so it can be detected at the charging pad location, but not at the door handle? I will take it to the dealer when my car is due to maintenance. I purchased the car 12/31/22 so it may be a while before I need servicing.

It is not a big deal at this point because I am using my iPhone or FOB to open the door, but it is nice to have the keycard as a backup method in my wallet.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions!

One other suggestion. Place the card on the 3 lines then slide slowly to the right but don’t go past the end of the handle. I just tried mine and it worked fine. If the key is starting the car then the card is fine. If you can’t get it to work on the door then there must be an issue with the door handle.

How about walking up to the car with only the key card, no fobs or phones. Touch the door handle to kind of wake it up, then hold the key card there. just keep your face out of the way of the camera.

I have had the car for 6 months and have always had the same issue with the key card not unlocking/locking the car. I even had Genesis customer care on the phone walking me through the set up. They specifically stated to put the key card directly over the 3 lines. It never really worked. I just saw your suggestion to place the key card to the right of the 3 lines and it works!!! Thank you for the great tip!

Glad to help out. Definitely took some trial and error to figure it out. The picture on the car is not very definitive.

Thanks, I tried moving the card slowly toward the right, pausing for 5 seconds after each 0.5cm movement. Unfortunately, I could not get the car to unlock. Will try taking it to the dealer.

Before doing so you may want try calling Genesis Customer Care. They will walk you through deleting the key card from the car and reinstalling it. Maybe that will save a trip to the dealer.

I myself am still having issues with my card like you calbear88 :(

Thanks, I was able to delete the key card and pair it again. the key card is recognized just fine when it is placed on the charing pad, which is the location I'm asked to place it when I re-paired the card. It also works fine when placed at the charging pad to start the car, but it still won't unlock the door.

A video is worth a 1000 words?

Don't know why I didn't think of this earlier, but today I tried using the credit card key on the passenger side door, and it works fine to unlock/lock the vehicle.

The credit card key still doesn't work on the driver side though.

Does the credit card key work on both front doors? Just thought I'd ask on the off chance the GV60 is supposed to have a credit card key reader only on one door and on my vehicle it was installed on the passenger side in error instead of the driver side :)
