  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've been scouring these boards this morning for any insight as to why the transmission in our Genesis sedan is suddenly jerky/sticky/catches. I've found threads that mention the noise and "clunking" being loud at seemingly any speed or gear shift - making it seem like its a very loud and jarring experience, and that's definitely not the case with ours.

For us it seems to happen in lower RPMs when in lower gears. For example; in stop and go construction on the highway it happens a LOT, but driving consistently at 30kms/hr and above its a non-issue.

It's a 2015 automatic 5.0L V8 with approx 110K kms driven. Anyone else have this more 'subtle' shifting issue?

3.8 here but pretty similar experience, low RPM and "slow" gear changes (especially first thing in the morning) it can hang and lurch a little for my liking. Some days it seems smoother than others? I've had a jarring shift once or twice before seemingly at random. But as you said higher speed/sport mode I don't notice it as much.

My memory might be fuzzy but I remember the car being buttery smooth when I got it so, I'm going to try and get my local dealer to replace the solenoids and transmission fluid from that TSB going around while I have some warranty left, would be nice peace of mind.

We are out of warranty now, but would still love to have it looked over. Genesis dealer is 4 hours away, so currently looking for somewhere to have it serviced that’s familiar with the vehicle - they are very few and far between where we live.

Also, I just checked out the link you included above and that’s awesome! I hadn’t seen that thread previously and I’ve now made a note of it hat it said and the screenshot for when we find a place to service it :)
