  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have an 2011 4.6 sedan in excellent condition. The ECU crapped out in September and after five months of getting the run around, Hyundai of America informed me today the arrival time of a new replacement "cannot be defined due to the global semiconductor shortage" The dealer cannot "wipe" a used ECU and Hyundai will not. Does anyone have any thoughts as to if or how I can make this car run again?

"Wipe" will correct the software on the ECU but will not do anything if the hardware is damaged or has component failures. Next step may be to find a used ECU from a wrecked vehicle or a third party rebuilt ECU.

... The dealer cannot "wipe" a used ECU ...
Sounds like he is talking about a used PCM, not the defective one that he has. I assume that the used PCM had to be reprogrammed ("wiped?") to work in his car?
