  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Motors Intelligent High Beams / Adaptive Headlights / Matrix Headlights Discussion

Back In February of this year NHTSA finally came to their senses and have allowed this technology! That is wonderful news. Here’s a link:

However, it’s also frustrating knowing how much tech is in the GV70, that at least for those in North America, early adopters aren’t getting (Another example is the ability to project the camera view onto the touchscreen with the directional graphics overlaid in real time). It’s a really cool feature highlighted in this video:

Anyone know if this is something that can be “activated” on 2022 models, or are we just SOL?

IN MY OPINION I believe with ability to use the camera as a dashcam can be a simple software update, but the adaptive lights, yes we may be S.O.L😂

I must say those headlights are by far the coolest headlights I've ever seen. But because I know that my GV70 won't be able to do that I'll just keep enjoying the little things like Auto headlight and the High Beam Assist setting and call it a day. 😂

Chances are it is probably a hardware thing so unless our vehicle has (which I don't think it does) then unfortunately it's not an update thing.

Wow really cool. Hopefully this makes it on a 2026-2027 GV70e, given my next vehicle will definitely be electric. This really reinforces how much tech, and semiconductors, vehicles have nowadays, and explains why the chip shortage is truly impacting production.

All that said, do the GV70s have corning headlights at least? I was amazed when we got our son a used 2013 Mazda 3 GT Hatch and the headlights swivel with the change in steering to adapt around corners. Works quite well. But a 2013! and a Mazda 3! Pretty impressive.

Does anyone know or can confirm if the headlight unit in the GV60 is the exact same part as the Korean spec with Matrix headlights? If so, there's a possibility that matrix can be enabled via software update.

It would be great if possible. Was able to do it via coding on a past BMW, and I'm waiting for a private garage I use to get updated software to be able to turn it on in our Porsche.

It would be nice, but I'm afraid it's very unlikely for the GV60. It looks like the Korean spec GV60 carries 2 different headlight modules, where the matrix headlight is part of a "High Tech Package" option.

As far as I am able to decipher, the part numbers for the Korean models are as follows:

Driver's, Projection Headlights: 92101-CU000
Passengers', Projection Headlights: 92102-CU000
Driver's, Matrix Projection Headlights: 92101-CU100
Passengers', Matrix Projection Headlights: 92102-CU100

Unless our GV60P has the ones ending in 100 we can kiss our OTA dream goodbye. Too bad the part model numbers are not written on the parts.

Edit: Just popped the hood of the GV60P and found the part number written on the headlights. They are indeed 92101-CU000 and 92102-CU000. Welp, answered my own question, there will be no matrix love for NA via OTA. At least I can stop dreaming.

Who's going to bite the bullet and purchase a set of CU100s to test if matrix would work?

I'm afraid to ask what they cost :-)

I have investigated extensively here:

tl;dr: Not possible. The US-spec GV60s (including Performance models) does not come with the necessary hardware.

Shoot. I missed your earlier post on this. I checked my lights and they are also the CU000 models. I was hoping that Genesis had given us the hardware but just turned it off. Considering this is supposed to be the company's premiere electric product, I am disappointed in Genesis.

Agreed, but at the same time I understand. When the decision to spec this car out for the NA market was made back in 2021, adaptive headlights were illegal here. Since a more basic headlamp module was readily available, I can see why the decision was made to not have it equipped.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
These headlights can't be installed aftermarket right? Since I assume it requires software on the car's side.

The infrastructure bill that was passed in 2021 authorized DOT to change the regulation for adaptive headlights. Genesis knew it was coming and was cheaping out on this one.

Where can I find the PN? Is it visible on the unit somewhere? Wondering what we've got in Canada. Afraid it will be the same as you.

Open the hood/bonnet. Using a flashlight you can just see under the cover the label with the part number on the headlights.

CU000 here. I contacted Genesis before I took delivery and they told me the car had the same physical components that the Korean model had w.r.t. ADB, so a software unlock would be possible.

Here is hoping they didn't misrepresent this to you.
