  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I purchased the base model GV80 last year and the audio system is crap. Has anyone done any upgrades to the audio system? Maybe a sub in the rear or upgrade the door speakers?

You're not going to get a lot of improvement from the base audio without going to an aftermarket amplifier. I don't know how the base audio system is designed, but if it uses something difficult like the Bose MOST fibre-optic, then it is a pain in the ass to bypass.

You are likely around $3-4k to do this right - ie: amplifier, subwoofer, new speakers.

Thanks for the input. I'm always hesitant to do aftermarket upgrades on these cars because not a lot of places have done installs with the brand.

Having ripped apart a lot of cars over the years for audio installs or other diy projects, I do have to say the GV80 interior strikes me as an absolute nightmare to disassemble properly. I'd break so many clips in this thing.

Thats strange. Took me an hour to take my wife's VW EOS door card off and more time to put back on after going to VW to buy new clips. Took my Genesis one off and on in two minutes and no broken clips. One master plug for all the wiring with a simple lever.

Just wondering if there are different levels of sounds systems in the pre 2025 GV80? Mine came with a 21 speaker Lexicon Premium Audio System. I had thought that was standard. I know they now offer a Bang & Olufsen which I had in my Audi.
