3 stickers on or near rear doors

I just noticed 3 clear stickers on or adjacent to both rear doors. I’ve gotten different answer from service department and sales department as to what purpose the stickers serve. Are they there for protection during shipping and are intended to be removed or are they there to protect that particular area from damage from rocks, etc while driving?

Paint protection. Seems like the aerodynamics would let those spots get the worst of road spray.

They should be for potential damage from the front tires, since those areas 'flare out' a little. I might have to remove the ones that get into the door area, since they had black crap since new, and cannot get it out. Or might attempt to cut off that area first (and remove them if I screw up) one of these days.
