If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Help! After spending hours reading through the 3 manuals that came with my '09 Genesis 3.8L with Tech Package, I can't find anything on how to switch the display from km to miles or miles to km. I'm going to be driving from Canada to Florida and would like to be able to change the display to miles when driving in the U.S. Has anyone figured this out yet? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. My spedometer is the same as yours and you are correct - the KM is bigger than the miles. My question actually pertained to changing the onboard computer (DIS). So for example, I would like to be able to switch things like the range, mpg, etc. from km to miles. Kind of like switching between F and C for the temp. Thanks!

Thanks - I did that earlier today. Doing that changes the kms to miles in the Navi system (i.e. mapping) only. The Trip computer (odometer, tripmeter, avg speed, mpg, range, etc.) still shows km. I know I've changed this in other cars before but in this car it seems to be a total mystery. There has to be some way to change it. Thanks for your help!

Thanks for trying Richard. Anyone else out there who lives in the U.S. and travels to Canada or Canadians traveling south to the U.S. to get out of the cold? There has got to be a way to switch the trip computer from km to miles or miles to km. I've done this on many other cars before and I just can't believe that Hyundai didn't think about this!!! Thanks.

I have requested the same of the dealer, I took delivery on the 10th. They think there is a service menu available on the steering wheel controls to change to english from metric, but the mechanic could not access it. They have requested info from Korea. Hopefully this can be done, as I travel more in the US than Canada also.

Guys, if memory serves me right, it was way back on U.S. cars that when the mileage was shown digitally, that you were able to switch back and forth from Km to Miles. I don't recall any car that permits that feature now. It would be nice as I spend winters down in Florida. I'm just happy that I can switch in the navi mode.

okay, i just tried it and it worked (i.e. the trip computer info on the DIS changed to km from miles; this did not change units for the trip info between the Speedometer and Tach).

From the DIS Engineering menu -- went to Variant System Setting and changed the US Units option from ON to OFF. Went to info screen and... it was in km, not miles anymore.

Hyundai tech informed me yesterday this cannot be changed with out changing the whole odometer and trip information cluster. You have what ever came with the car, English units in the US and Metric in Canada. They did however entertain the thought of suggesting the English/Metric feature, for the trip computer and the speedometer, to the development department.

I started looking in the aftermarket for a solution, and there is not much to choose from. The ScanGauge II looks promising.

I may give one a try.

I had the scangauge II, but sold it when I bought the Genesis since there is no great place to mount/display it in the Genny.

I wish I would have kept it:(

How did the ScanGauge work with the Genesis?

I'm thinking it could be mounted above the rearview mirror, or just under the cd changer.

It just plugs in to the connector under the dash on the drivers side (where you would plug in the computer to scan for codes). Works great, bought it for $185 and sold it on Amazon for $90 when I traded in my Elantra for the Genesis.
