  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Picking up my new '23 G70 in 2 weeks. What should I add first?

Hello all!

My baby was recently stollen. She was a 2013 Taurus SHO lightly mod'ed to about 400whp.

She is being replaced. Both a sad day (this was suppose to be a new bike year not a new car year) but happy as I'm really liked the G70 over the competition (S4, CT4-V non blackwing) and am getting one. I am curious in what order people feel in hindsight they should have bought thier performance parts.

I tend to be a left lane highway speeder. Also enjoy touring twisty roads with power to pass several cars at once. In city I don't speed at all.

I have read a bit about TCU tunes, JB4, Intakes, pipes etc. Surprisingly no brakes compound changes though.

Items I have on my list in no particular order as I usually add something new as I get bored of the performance;

Downpipes,
AFE Takeda intake (I like the looks)
3Bar MAF (opened up tuning options on my SHO but haven't seem much here on them)
160 thermostat (also not something I have seen for these cars)
JB4 w. proper plugs
Lozic TCU
Mando ECS10 suspension control module
Cosmetic things like red crossbars and blacked out emblems etc.
Exhaust
Oil catch can (Who makes one that recirculates the run off?)
Throttle body (needed with stock internals?)
Lighter pulleys
Meth kit
Intercooler upgrade

Looking forward to hearing peoples thoughts and being part of the group.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. I'm glad you found us! And congratulations on your upcoming Genesis G70.

Sorry to hear about the SHO! They wake up really nicely with a tune... The G70 is going to be more fun to drive as it's smaller and more sport oriented, I think, than the SHO was. And Genesis vehicles also wake up real well with tunes. I started using the JB tunes around 13 years ago. So the JB4 is something I really like. The Mando ECS10 is a great product, made by the same company that makes the Genesis suspensions, and can be make the suspension firmer for better handling or softer for more comfortable cruising.

We have a bunch of things you might find nice right here in the forum store...

I've been snooping the store. There are some cosmetic items I'll be grabbing. Expect an order soon. ;)

Good list but depending on your goals, some won't be required for power.

I had a JB4 and while good in many ways, the Lozic Ecu tune I have is superior for drivability and power. If you're doing exhaust for sound, go for it. If power, don't bother. The fastest G70 in the world (10.7 1/4 mile) has a stock exhaust. New MAF not required. Thermostat not required. TB not required. Lighter pulleys not available.

If you want 400whp from the G70, that's a simple tune with nothing else.

I had a JB4 tuner in my 2014 Mini Cooper S. I liked it a lot. I might eventually get the JB4 for my 2023 3.3T G70. I just got the G70 last week, so there's no rush.

Mods are highly personal. Personally, I like to run the car stock for a while, before deciding on what area(s) need improvement. Doing this establishes a baseline and allows you appreciate any performance gain that much better.

Besides, not every driver values the same attributes equally. Power mods are exceeding popular, but I myself care a lot more about handling and suspension setup. No right or wrong. Just preferences.

Normally I do the same however....

With my last car ('13 Taurus SHO) I did small upgrades (Brakes, MAF, tune, intake etc.) as I went and by the time I wanted to move onto bigger ones the parts had tripled in price. Downpipes went from $400 to $1300 or more. Exhausts went from $1000 to $2000. etc. And then there are the wait times. Six weeks for downpipes for example. Same happened with my bike.

So this time I'm considering grabbing components early and letting them sit till I want to make an add. The only performance ones I'm considering installing early is a CAI (mostly for looks) and the TCU ( I already found the shifting a bit lack luster during my test drive) and even then nothing will be added till the spring when I can let her enjoy some canyon twisties.

This ended up being my first mod (actually the first day i got it), was going to bring it to the shop but I convinced myself in doing it

Will be installing my performance mods once it warms up in Minnesota. JB4, Velossa Air Intake Snorkels, Takeda Intakes, HKS Spark Plugs, Concept 3 Transmission Cooler, IMS Downpipes, BMS Intercooler, BMS Catch Can, BMS Downshift Blocker.

Will be having the dark chrome window and grille trim gloss black wrapped, as well as the back section of the roof and antenna this Thursday, cant wait!

BTW: The BMS Catch Can is maintenance free

(y) Subtle but nice. I like it. :)

Definitely subtle with the carbon fiber. It almost looks factory from the photo.

I guess my first mods will be OCC, quilted armrest, door handle catch plates and genesis valve caps.

FYI, When KDM says they ship fast they are not kidding! Notification of shipping hit me 10 mins after order was placed and USPS had possession of my order about 2.5hrs later!

First performance mod will be a Lozic TCU bought right here from a forum member! I think the next will be the Mando.

Thank you for the kind words! We do our best to get orders shipped as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, most people don't even realize this as our tracking emails often land in junk mail folders. So they never realize how quickly we get items shipped... At least during business hours, anyway.

I am now an official 2023 G70 3.3TT Sport owner!!

Picked her (Sylvie) up, drove right to my buddies tire shop to get winter wheels and rubber.

Added the quilted center console armrest (which raised the armrest the extra inch I needed) and the door plates.

I'd add more pics but she's getting 3M'd and ceramic coated. Will add this weekend.

Now I just need to get my break in driving done so I can really experiment with her. ;)

Congratulations on your brand new Genesis G70! And thank you for your support. :)

Congratulations @Nameneeded! Nice G70. Is your the Sport Preferred? That's what mine is. I've had it for about 3 weeks and love it. I previously owned a 2019 G70 3.3T Sport (Advanced?) and then a 2022 GV70 Sport Preferred (which was really nice but I'm a sport sedan guy). Looking at the photo you posted, the white G70 next to yours looks like the one I own.

I know you're going to really enjoy your G70. Do you find yourself using the Sport mode a lot? They should call it the FUN Mode. LOL.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

That one is a sport prestige. I was trying to find a savile silver g70 but they were tricky at the time. Looks great!

Here are a couple pics. You can see the armrest and the door handle inserts. Sorry for the flipped images. Not gonna edit them. 😜20230311_091836.jpg

That armrest actually matches quite well! I thought about doing it on mine but didnt know if it would look funny against the diamond stitch pattern.

I also like your winter wheel / tire set! Are you gonna run the OEM black wheels when the snow is gone in July in Calgary? :p

That armrest looks great. Too bad our 6MT has a different armrest shape, so little chance that one would fit.
