  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Tomorrow I will be getting the dark chrome on my window trim, grille, and the roof / antenna vinyl wrapped gloss black. I figured I would post about the process of taking off the roof antenna. So I have been in 12V electrical / vehicle accessories installation for a little over a decade so I know a little about vehicle trim removal and I will say this roof is a little tricky to work with due to its clips. Having the right tools goes a long way.

Step 1: Remove the rear seat grab handles. 2x Phillips behind the cover plates on each.

Step 2: Remove the C pillar sides. There is a green clip (red circle in picture) that is very stubborn and can take a lot of pressure. I actually ended up breaking the drivers side as I started on this clip first trying to do a even pressure pop out. It seems this clip removes better when it is removed last at an angle. My suggestion is if you have a L shaped panel removal tool, start toward the back by sliding the tool between the window and the C-pillar panel and pop out (along the green line in the photo).

Step 3: Start popping the clips across the back of the headliner. There are 4x clips (circles in red on photo) that need a lot of pressure to pop down. This is where having Trim Removal Pliers make it easier. Take your time to carefully pry with even pressure without creasing the headliner.

Step 4: Now you can sneak around the back and unclip two antenna connectors. The main one on the bottom pulls straight down and the other connector is a clip connector. 19MM takes the nut of the antenna and your done!

Very nice. I really like the chrome trim delete wrap. I just picked up a 2023 sport prestige in Siberian Ice with sandstone interior. I'll post some pics was the weather gets better here in Southern Cali. i want to do the same but also wrap the side mirrors.

I was debating on wrapping the mirrors but I decided on doing the carbon fiber caps later instead. You won't regret it, it looks great in person! If your able, have the vinyl ceramic coated after. Keeps it looking new and also protects it / longer life. With gloss black vinyl on the roof, it can scratch easily and look bad after some exposure to everyday life lol.

Did you remove all of the chrome pieces before wrapping them? How did you do the trim around the grill? Looks great!

Nope, only thing removed was the shark fin antenna. They can technically wrap the shark fin on the vehicle but its a better wrap job if you can take it off. All the chrome trim and grille was wrapped without taking them off, they trim behind the gaskets typically. The grille was a big sheet and then trimmed around.

Thanks for the info. I got a quote of 950 for mine. Seemed a bit high. I haven't had the chance to get any other quotes.

For the bumper and grille only?

For chrome delete
Yeah that is about right. I was getting quotes from $1200 to $1600 for chrome delete with the roof. Vinyl wrap guys are kinda like car tuners, they think there gods and can charge $200 to $300 an hour. Luckily I had a buddy that did for me for $400.

I ordered a set of carbon fiber mirror caps last night. I also had my windows tinted and the shop quoted me to the trim around the windows and grill for $300. I've been going there for many years.

Thats a great deal! Do you happen to live in Texas? ive found some southern states are actually very reasonable in price for vinyl wrap.
