  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How old is it? I've had that happen over the years with different cars.

Ya, original battery in a 2016, been nice to have gotten a bit of a warning, maybe a dead cell

Check you mail. It sent you a "Please replace me" card two birthdays ago. Maybe you accidently tossed it with the junk mail.

Replaced mine pushing 5 years before a trip. Didn't want any surprises.

And the sad part is I knew better🥴
tried jumping it to no avail, couldn’t even get the interior light to come on.
sending into the dealer in the morning, that way IF it’s not the battery they can figure it out ….

Yeh, battery had a dead cell, only disappointed that they didn’t have an OEM battery in stock and we had to go with a aftermarket one from probably Oreillys!
it was my own fault for waiting too long from now on 4-5 years NEW BATTERY!😂

Got mine at advance auto with 3 year warranty. I think that is the same as the OEM. Chances are it came from the same factory anyway. $229 installed.

Yeah, mine was $362 but I did get the 15 pt check up and a wash and dry!,🤣
and if there had been any other problems it’s was in the right place!👍🏻

Did they put it in for you?
I still have my OEM - feel like I'm pushing it
Yes, they did. I stopped at Auto Zone and since the battery is in the trunk they said "no". Went across the street to Advance and it took the guy about 15 minutes. They plug in a power source so no settings are lost.

It weighs somethig like 66 pounds so I happily tipped the guy too.

I feel pity for the “damn” battery being trashed so badly in the thread title. After all, it performed valiantly for how many years?

Perhaps he missed putting a comma afer damn. That would change the meaning.
Punctuation Matters

Yep actually can’t fault the battery…..it was my my own damn fault for being lazy and not getting it replaced a while earlier….

My luck with original batteries has been phenomenal. I'm sure all original batteries that I've owned (cars, trucks bikes) have worked over 5 years - replacements not so well

I'm pushing it at 7.5 years and 66K miles but everything works fine. Might get it tested.

Nice but too risy for me to wait that long. One day you will come out and no go. Often in miserable weather or on the way to an important event. Good luck.

Testing won’t prevent a sudden failure. Seems you are doomed to be stranded at some point.

Is there any valid battery test that shows near term battery failure? My battery in my '18 G80 with 18K on the meter is just past 5 years. No apparent problems, but don't want a dead battery while away from home.
