  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

After starting car with NFC key card I can’t lock the vehicle without using phone or key fob

Has anyone else experience an issue when starting the gv70 up with the key card and fingerprint, where after stopping the car and opening the door you cannot lock it without an external device. The lock switch on the door doesn’t work and the lock location on the exterior door handle also does nothing. The only way to lock it is with the phone (connected services) or the key fob.

That doesn’t seem like the way it should work or is it a safety feature to make sure you didn’t lock the nfc card in the vehicle?

Thanks

You should be able to lock the door with the key card. You place it on the indent on the door handle that you usually use when you lock the door.

I just received and programmed the key card last week. I obtained this due to issues with locking the car and the iPhone app being unable to unlock the car when their system is down.

Note to the original statement from the OP, I've been unable to lock the doors with this card as well...

ShopVAc,

The more I think about i the more I think it makes sense that you would not be able to lock it. It would be pretty easy to leave you Card in the vehicle and if you didn't have a key fob with you or connected services was down, you would no be able to get back in your car. The NFC on the card is probably not strong enough for the vehicle to know if it's still in the car or not so it's probably a mechanism to ensure you d o not lock yourself our of the car.

I think the answer is that you need to have both the card and your phone with you at all times. If connected services goes down and you cannot lock your car with your phone then you need to reboot the infotainment center which seems to fix connected services issues and only takes about 20 seconds. Not ideal, but I am thinking it does make some sense.

This is all just a guess, but i seems to make sense to me.

I'll reply to DaleNet too, but I was not able to lock the car with the card. Maybe GCS was down and I hadn't noticed, but I think I was able to lock it with the app, so that would suggest that GCS was not down. I'll do additional testing.

I do not own a GV70. I have the GV80 and I can lock and unlock the vehicle with the key card. Genesis service does not have to be on line for this to work.

You do have me questioning the lock capability. I will check again.

Post back when you find out. I would love to know the answer. I did try to lock it on two separate occasions and was unable to. If I have my phone it's no problem, but would love to know the answer. To be fair, it could be in the book as I have no gone through that 16 million page manual yet, but I have watched a ton of videos on the GV70.

OK, I just went out to my GV80 and I can unlock/lock and start the vehicle with the NFC card. I did not have my key fob or phone on me when I tried it. I did have to slide the NFC card across the handle to get the vehicle to unlock/lock.

I just tried it on gv80 also. Had to slide it near outside middle of handle.
