Check User Authentication System

Ok, that's new. Facial Recognition isn't working and it's not even an option in the setup menu.

I've got an indicator telling me to check the User Authentication System. Into the manual I dive....

I had this happen to me a few weeks ago when I started the car. It never happened again, but my fingerprint was deleted. I reprogrammed my fingerprint and everything seems fine now. I assume it was just a glitch. Facial recognition didn't have an issue, just the fingerprint reader.

It popped up for about two days, everything else seemed to be working although the face ID and fingerprint were either non-functional or wonky. Made an appointment with the dealer the following day and sure enough the error was gone that morning. Called the dealer and they said that 95% chance they can't figure out what went wrong without the error actually showing and no need to come in. They did say if it happens again, bring it in. Not the most comforting response.

Face ID seems to be no longer working, I haven't had the opportunity to reset it.

Just got the same problem same issue with the facial recognition not working (status circle turns green but refuses to unlock the doors). The setting in the face setup menu is also completely missing. Not sure what happened

Yeah the update didn’t fix anything unfortunately

I’ve had this on two occasions. Both times they self cleared within 24 hours.

I have yet to have it pop up again since I deleted my fingerprint. I did do the update and all is working perfectly. I'll add fingerprint and see if it returns.

I received this error yesterday. Tried a reboot but didn’t fix. All profiles no longer have facial recognition. If you switch profiles the car gets stuck and doesn’t change all the settings like seat and radio. I haven’t gotten the Oct OTA yet that I can see. Really need this fixed soon. This was a big selling point over the advance with the digital key.

I just received the same error and neither profile has the facial recognition option. Plus changing between profiles is very clunky seats don’t change radio doesn’t change. Odd. This has to be a software glitch. I tried resetting the system but no help. All digital keys no longer work.

Just received the same warning although it cleared after restarting. Haven’t checked facial recognition but I often have issues with the fingerprint registering. I did notice that accompanying this warning was another error sign on the display adjacent to the plug symbol and mileage indicator. Not sure if related.

I started having the Check user authentication system Service Message a few days ago in my 23 GV70 EV and could not find anything on the internet that worked.
Before taking it to the dealer I thought I'd try one last thing: Disconnecting the 12V battery for a minute.
In my case, it did the trick. Message immediately went away.
It has been 3 days since and so far so good.
If you have changed some settings (mostly climate control) they will reset to default when doing this --at least on my model-year-- but I much rather do this that going to the dealer. It only takes a couple of minutes to reconfigure those settings and worse case scenario, if trying this doesn't fix the error message, it shouldn't cause any harm to the vehicle.

Did you ever get this fixed I have THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM and the dealer seems stumped.

Hyundai/Genesis repurchased my car after I filed a Lemon Lawsuit over this issue
