Green light limited 20 mph

Entering highway 40 mph speed limit , green light came on saying limited 20 mph , cars zipping by me while I can only do 20 , a little disconcerting, had to pull over and shut car off and restart and green light went off . Really bad timing . Not sure what happened and will it do it again

Where did the green light come on? It sounds like it went into some sort of "limp mode"? That sounds fairly serious. I haven't seen that one - but I've had almost every other problem imaginable...!

Green light came on in instrument panel between rpm and speedometer said limited 20 mph , went off after shutting off car and restarting, I didn't set anything , I am going to check every speed setting there is and mode now

Sounds kind of like manual speed limit mode with the cruise control. I think that 20 MPH is as low as it will set. Were you doing anything with the cruise control buttons when this happened?

You are right it has to do with that, I just don't remember touching anything. I looked it up and if it happens again tapping the speed limit assist button on the upper right of the steering column should turn it off. Was a tad disconcerting with cars all of a sudden passing me . Thanks

The speed limit assist button on right side of steering wheel top , will turn it on and off . In manual under section 7 manual speed limit explains it , somehow it would come on now I can turn it off immediately with button

I don't understand the need to have a button on the steering wheel to limit speed like that? What situation would require this?
If it's specifically for a valet, then the valet can just turn it off?

It's a thing for people in areas that very aggressively enforce the speed limit. Set this so that there is no way you ever go over said limit. It has nothing to do with valet.

It's a thing for people in areas that very aggressively enforce the speed limit. Set this so that there is no way you ever go over said limit. It has nothing to do with valet.

You're correct in doing that , for some reason my limited 20 mph came on without myself doing anything to cause it , now I can shut that off immediately or do what you said .

Thank you for you answer. This happened to me recently and my local Genesis dealer was unable to explain why it happened.
