  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Break in period

You may have seen this mentioned before, the new Corvettes are computer limited to 4000 RPM for the first 500 miles. At 501 you can shut down, restart, and off you go!

Fortunately, machining, materials, assembly, and lubricants has greatly improved over the years; Your old 50s Chevy would be in for rings and bearings at 50k miles. and be junk if it make 100k. That was also with very frequent oil changes. I don't miss plugs, points, rotor every 10k too.
And condenser!

I drove back from LA to NorCal after purchase. The vehicle had 30 miles on it when I got it. The first 50 miles I put on it were stop and go traffic through LA, but then the next 345 miles or so were mostly 60-78mph in eco mode without ever going over 4,000 rpm. It was about a 7-8 hour drive with three stops to get food, gas, etc., but the only real changes in speed during the long stretches were for the multiple construction zones which dropped the speed to 55 (10-15 mph drop) and when traffic came to a stop for a mile or two here and there. There were several of those construction zones throughout the drive nd a couple of stops where traffic moved slowly for a mile to two, but plenty of cruising at a relatively consistent RPM. Hard to do anything else when driving home with the vehicle 400 miles. When using the cruise control off and on, the vehicle would slow down to adjust for vehicles in front, etc., so it's not like the rpms never changed. Thoughts? Btw, didn't know this vehicle drove itself.

I don't tell people until I can show them as I pretend to look for something with both hands off the wheel. Yes, I keep one eye on the road cause I'm not 100% sure it will always work.

In 2023 the G70 manual definitely mentions a break in period. Wonder if they added it to the manual for 2023 as alot of people here saying their G70 manuals don't mention a break in period. It's the same steps as what others have posted.

Not really much to do. Take it easy for a while. Keep below 4000 rpm for 500 miles. Its not like your father's 55 Chevy that you had to baby.

Absolutely just going to be a long 500 miles. I'm only at 85 so far. I had a long drive home from the dealer and probably went over 4k rpms lol. I just brought it home last night super late so today is really the first day with it and I will keep it under 4k from here on out till 500 miles. Hope my long drive home didn't ruin the break in lol 😅

I feel your pain. When I got my 20 G80 Sport, I was chomping at the bit.

Haha for sure. I'm driving it around town just wanting to get on it lol. But even at low rpms the torque is unreal.

Corvette is limited by the computer for 500 miles. Then at 501 you can shut down, restart and let 'er rip.

Today, I was entering the freeway, and a vehicle suddenly changes lanes into "my" lane behind me, so I had to get to 4500 RPM. My GV70 3.5 has about 100 miles on it. I was angry!
