  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey all, I have a 2021 Genesis G70 and read about several intake systems. However most note the increased noise along with HP gains. Is there an intake system that will give me the HP gains, but NOT produce much more noise? I actually appreciate my quiet ride and don't want to have to turn up the radio to drown out engine bay noise. Will something the AFE/Takeda system be quieter but still produce the HP gains since the filters are enclosed? Is the tradeoff less HP gains? Thanks in advance.

Im thinking takeda is your best option. They do have impressive gain from other intakes (+22hp / +20lb torque).

I just installed mine yesterday and love them!

I'm glad I'm not alone in not liking the intake noises - especially the turbo whoosh. :puke: I don't need to hear the turbo to know it's working.

Any aftermarket intake's HP/TQ claims - with the CAI by itself - are dubious at best. Most have next to no insulation from the underhood heat generated inside the engine compartment. That said, it doesn't mean you couldn't modify some CAI systems to insulate the intake system from underhood heat and to reduce intake noise. The Injen CAI I have in both our G70 and Stinger come with a baffle plate that does a pretty decent job at shielding the cone filter from the engine... except the whole top of it is wide open. So I added some aluminum L-brackets to the baffle and fabricated a removable top cover plate out of ABS plastic sheet. I then wrapped the baffle plate and the aluminum intake plenum with reflective radiant barrier insulation. The turbo whoosh is still audible but much more subdued. Not only that, the system is finally a true COLD AIR intake. We did the G70 over Spring Break. I'm gonna do the same on the Stinger.

I kinda like the Phsssssssss sound when let off of the go fast pedal.... lol the higher the boost the louder and longer it lasts. I'm thinking about putting a whistle on the it.... :ROFLMAO:

Do you have a BOV?

Remove the inlet elbows on the stock intake. Doing that has proven (by measurement) to reduce restriction, which means more air flow and thus more power.

If you have a bov which one did you go with?
I personally went with a Turbosmart Race Port. I used them on my vehicles in the past and it has a nice release sound with no whistle or pitch to it, just rushing air.

PFFFFFFFFF!

If I were doing it from scratch and without the BMS kit I would have gone with Takeda it's the cleanest install of them all, and I'm still thinking about it or going back to stock boxes with decent filters and VT snorkels...just my 2 cents

Thank you for the suggestion. I want to tune the car but i just got it yesterday lol. Only has 90 miles on it and don't wanna mess with that warranty yet lol. But I definitely want to upgrade the intake. Thank you again

Do you know which model fits our 2023 genesis g70 3.3. On their site when you select your vehicle they don't have 2023 as an option or genesis. I don't see Kia either just hyundai and im not sure which model has our engine if any. Thank you in advance for your help.

thats wierd i just looked myself this past weekend and it was there and not today....found it in a search

Sorry I got confused. I was referring to the Turbo smart site. I didn't see our car there.
I went with the following:

Also need this to match the vacuum of the car (12 InHg / 6 psi) : BOV RacePort Spring kit

As far as the AFE Takeda Intakes: Takeda Momentum Cold Air Intake System w/ Pro 5R Filters
