  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. I'm glad you found us! Your Genesis Sedan looks great! And the wheels are excellent... What did the Genesis replace for you?
Its going to be my second vehicle. I had a 2014 chrysler 300 c awd hemi before the kids. Before that had a 1994 audi s4 that was epic. This is my first rwd car. I wanted another v8 before we all go electric.

I always wanted a 300 but didn't like the interiors. How does this compare to the 300? Btw if this one is gonna be a keeper i would install a catch can asap.

I've always liked the Chrysler 300C. Had a 2007 years ago. That was the previous generation. How are you liking the Genesis Sedan compared to the 300C?

I had a 2007 and the interior was "okay". Nothing special, really... I did like the next generation interior, but the Genesis Sedan is quite a bit nicer...

That's what steered me into the DH. I love the look of the 300 but its gets dated fast.

That will be the first thing I do, a catch can. Thank you very much for that.

300 was a tank in the winter, very comfortable with all the options you could ask for. It was american comfort though, not European. Not as classy.

I'm glad I went with Hyundai. When you order one make sure you get a baffled OCC. I got the smaller one from Mishimoto. I have to empty it every 1500 but its worth it stay away from high flow ones also.

Thank you very much for the advice again. Any thoughts on valve cleaning? Or will catch can be good enough going forward?

My DH is at 115,000 miles. The valves have never been cleaned in my possession. I don't think the previous owner did it. I will get them clean just have to find a trust worthy shop in my area that's a project in itself or someone that has done it before lending a helping hand. I think you might be able to get away with just a valve cleaning spray and the OCC. The gunk really collects in the winter seasons. Your car looks pristine from the pictures less than 7k km a year. You got yourself a really nice car!

Thanks again for all the info. I wanted an fx 50 but I couldn't pass up the low km on this genesis. I have never driven rwd but this car was really clean and low km. I think I will do the valve spray clean and put on the catch can. Any other suggestions you may have im all ears. Appreciate the time and advice!!

No problem. There's a lot of helpful people on the forum! You'll have to deep dive on the weekend. There's a lot of good info. These cars have a lot of nannies to keep you from mustanging around. A word of advice ease into the gas pedal especially if you are turning the car likes to cut power a lot which could become dangerous if trying to take a left turn onto a busy street. There's also a lot of bypasses like removing the brake light switch to do burnouts lol or pulling the esc fuse under the hood to fully turn off the traction. Fyi push the traction switch once to somewhat turn it off. Push and hold it to take most of it off but it'll still intervene you have to pull the fuse to get rowdy. It's also a open diff. When doing a tranny flush always always do a drain and fill! Also go to a actual tranny shop these trannys are expensive. I do believe your generation(BH) came with a zf transmission. I heard mixed reviews some people make them last others have no luck maybe look into a tranny cooler if you're handy. Just the tip of the iceberg ha
Edit: I almost forgot the DH (2nd gen) and BHs all came with a open diff. I daily mine in Pennsylvania winters with all seasons with no issues.

Wealth of knowledge!!! Ya the tranny worries me, I have read a lot of horror stories. I have the 2nd year of the in house 8 speed auto. Drain and fill is definetly the way to go. Thats high on my to do list. I do not want to blow the tranny. My goal is longevity with this baby.
