  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is anyone having any sort of paint quality/chipping off issue with newer (2022 and after) Genesis vehicles? The paint on my 2022 GV70 looks so fragile that I keep noticing some paint chip offs or fade offs here and there. It has happened 3 times so far but the dealership keeps saying its the rock chips which I highly doubt is the reason. Attaching a picture of the recent one as I got the other two fixed.

where are you getting these "chips?"

that chip in your picture does not look like a rock chip to me.

Getting them around edges of the doors. It’s a very unusual place to get a rock land on.

Is it on the edge of the door where it swings out? A little tap on something can do that. When paint fails or has defects it generally affects whole panels, not small localized areas.

So I have gotten them on the door that swings out and the rear quarter panel (just where the door rests) that doesn’t swing out and also on the door panel. So many different spots but I know for sure that I didn’t bump the door anywhere. It happened only two months in the ownership of the vehicle. It looks like that the paint has smoothed off of the body or edges. No dings, no scratches and no bare metal. It’s as if someone wiped off the paint with a rag.

I have a 2023 GV70 Barrosa Burgundy and noticed spots on the hood. The spots are the size of a small rock chip but very smooth. I took it to the local Genesis dealer Bodyshop. I was told they didn't appear to be chips and spots appear to be under the clearcoat. Suggested filing a warranty claim. I was told to come back, and they will take pictures and submit a warranty claim but wasn't sure it would be accepted.

Seatbelt buckle getting caught in the door frame will make those sort of marks.. DAMHIK, I just do.. (not on any currently owned vehicles..)
