  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Respect this topic has been covered in previous threads (steering wheel vibrations in 2018 G90 between 55-75 mph). Have read many threads, but never came across a definitive Genesis solution to what appears to be a relatively common problem for G90 owners. Recent buyer of 2018 G90 with good tires; just had a road force balance/alignment from a solid shop. Some improvement, but issue remains. Have read many stories of swapping tires/rims/checking-for-bent-rims/brake-work/road-force-balance, but in many of those cases, the issue remained. Has anyone successfully addressed this issue? Any assistance/guidance would be greatly appreciated. Like many, love the car and would like to address this issue.

They have replaced my tires, wheels, front axle, driveshaft, brakes and transfer case. Somewhat better but it's still there. Very disappointing for an otherwise fine automobile.

Greatly appreciate your response. Helpful information. Would be interested to hear the experience of others on this issue.

Well . . . . if Genesis would every ship a decent steering column that UPS doesn't destroy, perhaps I'll be able to tell you if that solved the issue. I'm hoping it solves both my issues: 1. noisy steering and 2. the vibration around 60. Will let you know when the newest steering column arrives safe and sound.

I would expect it to solve the noise, but not the vibration.

Appreciate the information and offer to provide an update. Enjoy the rest of your day.

You may be correct. I spoke a while back to a guy on the G90 facebook page who had the same issues. When his steering column was replaced, it fixed both. So, I'm hoping that works for me as well.

are those who are experiencing this problem driving an AWD or RWD G90?
just wondering if there is a linkage to the drive-line configuration.

Mine is RWD.

Taking my 2018 G90 Ultimate in for warranty work next week. Was wondering if there was anything new related to fixes on the steering wheel vibration issue at highway speeds. I will be providing dealer with this Technical Service Bulletin - Wheel/Tire Vibration Genesis G90: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10183961-0001.pdf

Have had car road force balanced at solid shop twice - vibration issue has improved but remains. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I currently have a 2020 G90 after having a 2017 G90, both 5.0 AWD, and the vibration were on both. I spent a lot to repair the issue on the 2017 by replacing rims doing many tire balancing including road force, to no avail to address the problem. Similar goes for the 2020.

The 2017 was a bit improved for a short while, though far from satisfactory, after complaining to Genesis directly and a Genesis engineer was sent to the service station to asses the issue.

It is even more confusing, as typically vibration (more common if a tire is out of balance) would reduce at higher speed above 75 MPH, in this case it does not, probably gets worse.

Furthermore, the Equus (of which i also had) had similar issues

Yes this seems to be an issue unaddressed by Genesis. I have noticed some vibration around 65ish, but it seems to cap off around 75. I usually do street miles not highway so I don't experience it often enough to help. I have discussed it with Genesis and my local dealer. They've tried a balancing act and nothing has helped. I've come to deal with it although it frustrates the living crap out of me.

Vibration at highway speeds in our 2018 G90 was horrible. For the most part gone with a set of Michelin Primacy Tour tires and a good road force balance - like a completely different car.

Short story
ALL G90 owners should GET RID OF THOSE CONTI TIRES (despite "great ratings")!!

Long story
bad steering wheel vibrations at 65mph (bought the 2018 G90 ultimate 5.0 AWD used over a year ago)

Dealer trip 1
replaced R-front defective Conti tire w bubble ($400), road force balancing all 4 ($100) = problem worse at 65mph!!!
Dealer trip 2
another new tire, Balancing all 4 again (all free) = 65mph strong vibration switched to mild one at 55mph....better, but still not great.

...months later, dedicated tire center said two more Conti's were bad. one blown from very small pot hole I hit, the other mysteriously missing a chunk.

per the advice on here, enough with conti's!!! replaced all 4 with Michelin's, Primacy in front\larger PILOT 4 in the rear (they were out of Primacy rear), and alignment = WOW, it rides amazing now, vibrations gone!!!....SOOOOO SMOOTH, LUXURIOUS RIDE!!!!!

THANK YOU FORUM MEMBERS!!!

Yep. Mine has always shimmied around 65 -75 mph. I’ve never owned another car that has done that. Even my old Ford company cars rode even. I’ll remember that when the time comes.

If it's based on the conti tires as mentioned throughout this thread, I can't imagine it's a warranty covered item. I took mine back when I had warranty and they tried a variety of things to no avail. I just returned last night from a road trip. I still have the original conti's and at times I felt the vibrations. Other times, the car rode smooth as silk. It's probably the tires.

Thanks, mine just started recently. Over 55mph and under 70pmh.
