  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey Guys,

Im curious at what miles did you guys change your transmission oil service (drain and refill) Whether you got it done at the dealership or independent shop and how much did it cost you? And did you notice and big improvement or not reallly? Could a good independent shop do it or should it be absolutely be done at a dealership? Im curious to know what mileage is everyone getting theirs done or if they will get it done. Thank you for your inputs!

Mine was done at 65k, no have 96k by the previous owner at the dealer. Was told that is the recommended interval. Im sure any shop could do it. Nothing exceptional like a Mercedes

Thank you for responding. I didnt understand the 2nd statement you mentioned, “no have 96k by the previous owner at the dealer” what do you mean by this exactly? You think any shop can do this? You shouldnt take it to the dealership to get it done by trained genesis technicians?

I meant NOW I have 96k. I dont think there is anything technical about a transmission service on this car.

Oh okay. So you’re saying if it was a benz or bmw then its important to take it to a dealership but not these cars

Not even a Benz or BMW there are qualified Indy shops that work on those cars.

So only go to the dealership for warranty work primarily is what you saying?
Pretty much, unless you cant find a mechanic you trust

What mechanic chain did you get your trans oil and drain at or was it a personal mechanic you know? Also sometimes i get spectacle to take the car to a firestone or such, but these cars are very straightforward though.

What was the resolution? Were you able to get the sealed trans fluid changed? If so - by the dealer or an independent? Did it make a difference in how the car drove or shifted or??

I have the same need,,,,
Thx

To keep transmission for ever just replace the fluid at every 50k mile with high quality fluid like Amsoil signature series and add one bottle of lucas transmission conditioner.
Don't forget to replace transmission filter too
