  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi everyone, I'm looking to join the Genesis family soon! Had my eye on a 2023 GV80 3.5 (3 row model) locally but I've found some good deals out there for the 2021 model. I tried looking online and in this forum, but couldn't find any discussion on changes in the car over the year (big or small). For instance, suspension changes to make the ride even more comfortable, any features, etc.

Also, any evidence that the 2021 models are at increased risk of major issues given that it was the first year? I would appreciate the insight!

I feel like the only difference that is worth mentioning between the 2 is the dial to control the infotainment screen. They fixed it to make it easier to control. I also notice more issues with the Voice Recognition and Connected Services on the 21s.

I am very happy with my 2021 GV80 Prestige (Canadian model). Having said that, Consumer Reports survey of their readers' (of whom I'm one) experience suggests more problems with the 2021. It's partly luck of the draw from my reading of the reports of troubles on this forum with no indication that the early buyers have experienced any greater difficulty than the ones buying later model years. Here in Canada there is a five year warranty and 5 years free service, unlike the 3 years in the U.S. So you may be taking your chances with a warranty expiring earlier on the 2021.

Thanks for the input. Yeah, the warranty thing I’ve been trying to weigh.

Basically my dilemma comes down to paying maybe $18,000 more for a new 2023 to get the full 5 year warranty and 10 year powertrain, versus the 2021 with 3 remaining years of regular/powertrain (since apparently the 10 year is not transferable in the US at least)
