  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi everyone,
My driver seat got stuck in recline in my 2016 Hyundai Genesis Sedan. When I push the upright button, I can hear the motor working but something seems to prevent the seat going upright. I did some research and heard about the limit switch but I could not locate it. It is almost impossible to get behind the seat because there is no space as it stuck all the way down

. Does anyone have an idea how to fix the seat?

If you hear the motor running, then it shouldn't be a limit switch. It sounds more like a mechanical problem. Being reclined like that makes the seat more difficult to unbolt and remove, but not impossible.

Thank you. What would you first look for when you unbolt the seat?

I'd identify the recline motor and try to find where the gearing from that is jammed at.

It's item 4 below.

oh thanks. Is "E" a fuse box? Where would be fuse box E? Reclining motor D rear would be Terminal 2 looks like.
E is the connector to the driver's seat extension motor.

I think it is a limit switch. I have had this issue twice under warranty and the dealer reset the limit. i do not know how they did it.

Was your issue really the seat recline, or was it the seat moving back and forth? The limit switch problem for moving back and forth is well documented here, but I haven't seen this for the recline.

My issue was the recline would not move upright enough.
