  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention a serious issue I've encountered with my 2015 Genesis 5.0, which has left me deeply concerned about the quality and support from Hyundai.

Recently, my Genesis transmission suffered a catastrophic breakdown, leaving me in a difficult situation. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the root cause of this issue was a faulty hose assembly, specifically part# 25420-B1600. Astonishingly, despite having only driven 115,000 miles, my transmission was devoid of fluid due to this unnoticed leak.

Repairing or replacing the transmission amounts to a staggering $6,000, a significant financial burden. What's even more alarming is that obtaining the required hose assembly has proven to be daunting. I've been informed that the part won't be available until the end of October or the beginning of November at best. This extended delay results from a substantial backlog of orders for this critical component, indicating that this issue is affecting a growing number of Hyundai owners.

I strongly believe Hyundai should take responsibility for this widespread problem and assist affected customers like myself. This situation is financially burdensome and puts our safety and trust in Hyundai at risk.

If you are in a similar predicament or share my concerns, I invite you to contact me. Together, we can unite and form an alliance to collectively voice our grievances and urge Hyundai to take appropriate measures to address this issue promptly.

I appreciate your attention and look forward to hearing from you. Our collective efforts could make a significant difference in solving this troubling problem.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Heath

Weird, the hose you described is a coolant hose for the transmission cooler. Not for the ATF fluid.

If the hose that you described leaked enough coolant to ruin your transmission by letting it overheat; then it would most likely allowed the engine to run hotter than normal as well.

Yes it did, fortunately i do not take long trips and only drive locally.

So, was the original description wrong? "my transmission was devoid of fluid due to this unnoticed leak."

For clarification.

Your transmission failed due to overheating because the coolant drain out of the transmission cooler hose on local drives around town?

Did your engine overheat as well?

Did the transmission hot warning message appear in the dash?

Perhaps, i misinterpreted my mechanic. It was the root cause of my transmission failure. Hose is backordered for 2 months do to popularity.

thats bad sorry for that ! is there's a way to bypass the cooler and install a standalone transmission cooler ?

This was almost two years ago. I'm sure he's resolved it one way or another by now. I assume that you could do as you say, but then you would lose the benefit of warm coolant from the engine warming the transmission to operating temperature sooner. This may not be a problem in warm climates, but would likely shorten transmission life in cold climates.

yeah exactly sir ! here in my area it will go crazy 130 degrees ! and not that cold in winter ! plus I notice this trans is shifting fast and smooth while cold too.
But downshift the rpm will go slightly higher each downshift ! I don't know if that's normal or not ?
