  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Any oil viscosity or additive that reduces the startup rattle on 5.0?

5.0 has the startup rattle for 3-5 seconds. Has anyone changed oil viscosity or used any additive that reduces the rattle on the 5.0? I don't want to replace parts on the engine. But curious if anyone has had luck getting it to quiet down. I've been using Costco synthetic 5w-20 and the Genesis factory oil filters. I'm thinking of going to Pennzoil Platinum Ultra in a 5w-30 weight. Does anyone have any other advice? I appreciate it!

Flush the old oil with an Engine Flush then Use 5w40 fully synthetic, and add BG MOA to the new oil.

I appreciate it, people seem to like BG products, I'll order some of the MOA. I have some Liqui Moly engine flush already.

Yes that should do. But depending on the weather conditions / temperature or your location, please consider the oil viscosity accordingly. I upgraded from 5w30 to 5w40 and its much quieter now but i live in Dubai.
