genesis platinum road hazard

Hi everybody, I just had a general question. I just purchased the 2024 GV70 and they were pushing me to get the platinum road hazard for like 1700 I think. They said the rims and the tire are expensive and if you damage them it will cost about $2,000 per tire with the rim. I do drive fast but I live in Rochester so I don't know how often I'll come across potholes like in New York City, long story short, do you guys think it's worth it to get the protection? Thanks!

Wheels can often be repaired. I had one damaged and it cost $125 for the repair.
Worth it? Do some math. I've been driving 62 years. In that time I had one damaged rim and a total of three tires. In today's money, about $950 spread out over those years. Should I have spent the equivalent of $1700 for every car I bought?
