  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

It happens about every other day. The garage door only goes up, not down. The wall opener and homelink are the only ways it should open.

Why does it happen when you walk into the garage rather than at random, for example when you are asleep?

It seems obvious that your presence is trigging the action. Is that correct?

Well, it's not the homelink in your Genesis. It's not even powered at all without the engine running.

My 2015 ultimate garage door button works when the engine and ignition are off.

That was then and this is now.

Sometimes it happens when I have driven another car and walk in. Sometimes I have just gotten in the house and it opens.

So, it is the opener, not the car. Mine has a motion sensor for the light. Maybe your has a short or bad sensor of some sort.

Disconnect your car’s Homelink from your garage opener. If you still have the problem, your garage door motor unit is the problem. Remote control units can sometimes receive signals from other houses in the neighborhood.
