Pick a name for Hyundai's luxury division

Jwaters943: You forgot one more dream model: Geneis LC380 & LC460 (this would be coupes based on the Genesis Sedan - a la M-B CL550). I think that would be awasome.

A coupe maybe an inch and half shorter than the sedan!? UHM! Sign me up!

Personally, I like Genesis. It would be a bit confusing, but when the timing is right, I think Genesis would be a perfect name to stick with. I even like the wing emblem as a symbol of the company "taking flight".

Since alphanumerics seem to rule in the luxury world, I propose something like the following:

Genesis FS380 & FS460 (full-size sedan aka Genesis sedan)

Genesis MS380 & MS460 (mid-size sedan....potential, smaller offspring of the Genesis sedan utilizing a shortened version of the same platform and same powertrains)

Genesis ES 2.0T & ES380 (entry-level sedan utilizing Genesis Coupe powertrains)

Genesis EC 2.0T & EC380 (entry-level coupe aka upcoming Genesis Coupe)

Genesis MC380 & MC460 (mid-size coupe....potential larger, more luxurious offspring of the Genesis Coupe)

Genesis UL380 (Utility Luxury vehicle aka 2nd-gen Veracruz)

Genesis ULX380 & ULX460 (long-wheelbase Veracruz or Genesis-based utility vehicle)

Of course, all this would cost tons of money and I'm probably dreaming, but I would love to see it happen.

I read your post with interest. While your nomenclature seems very practical and logical, it makes me wonder what your professional background is. I've found in working with people all my life (of all technical considerations) that most wouldn't take the time and/or the effort, (maybe due to lack of ability, interest, forethought, etc.) to come up with what you have offered. I think it's very ingenious.

What is your professional background?

I agree with Jwat, Genesis fits perfect for the luxury brand of Hyundai. They can just add UV380 or something like that that's different. But I def like Genesis.

Instead of ES and EC, I would go w/ CS and CC (compact sedan and compact coupe, respectively) - since "entry-level" doesn't exactly have the best connotations (plus, it falls in line w/ the mid-sized, full-sized theme).

ETC... sounds great.

Give the accent, elantra, sonata, tuscon, and santa fe to KIA.

Take the rest tiburon, vera cruz, genesis, azera and really soup them up with anything you can squeeze the v8 in or a v6 turbo/supercharger. The tiburon can go if the genesis coupe is a hit.
