  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all,
Whenever I get a new car, I've always found these owner's forums to be a good source of information about said car.
So, since I just placed an order for a GV60 last week, and am set to receive it in approximately 5 months.
Therefore, I might as well find an owner's forum to hang out at, to lurk and learn, while I wait.

I live in Ireland, where Genesis isn't available, but will be importing my GV60 from the United Kingdom.
There are obviously some clerical challenges involved, but I'm looking forward to overcoming those, and getting it to my driveway.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Congratulations on your brand new Genesis GV60! What will the GV60 be replacing for you? I'm glad you found us. :)

It must be so interesting driving a car that nobody else has in your area...

Thanks Sal! :)
My current car is a 2008 Ford Mondeo 2.0 turbodiesel, which I've owned since 2011. It's done about 425 000 km or 265 000 miles, and does need some work, but I'm maintaining it so I can keep it on the road until I've managed to get the GV60 home.

While this is far from the first time I'll be driving an electric car, it will be the first electric car I pay for with my own, hard-earned money.

I went for the middle of the three drivetrains available in the UK, sold there under the "Sport" moniker (equivalent to "Advanced" in the USA market, where the RWD drivetrain doesn't seem to be available), with a gloss Makalu Gray paint and Obsidian Black nappa leather interior.

I also opted for almost all the equipment packages, except the Digital Mirror. (Some UK journalists tried it, and found the screens to be not as well executed as on the Audi E-Tron. I test drove a GV60 with them, and felt I agreed with those journaists, so I opted for traditional mirrors with the auto-dim upgrade.)

Once I have the GV60 home, I'll have to figure out what to do with the Ford.
Will it be worth fixing up and selling, or will I take the scrap money?

I just collected my GV60 last week, and am happy as peach!
I drove around in England during the week, and absolutely loved every moment of it.

I’ve hit a snag in the import process, though:
I need the Vehicle logbook (UK licence plate paperwork) to import the car to Ireland, and the authorities have sent it to me in the post, so I had to fly back to Ireland and am now waiting for it to arrive in the post, before I can fly back and collect the car from a secure parking facility, bring it in, and pay the due taxes.

Oh, the perils of red tape… Wish me luck!IMG_0316.webp

Congratulations! And sorry to hear about all the red tape... You'll get through it! I bet you're excited to get it home. The Genesis GV60 is a heck of an upgrade from the Ford Mondeo. Have you seen many GV60s in the UK? Is the brand getting popular there?

They’ve Sold a few thousand, it seems. The UK is still a small market for them, but the sales reps tell me they have big ambitions, and the brand does indeed seem to be growing. There are currently three Genesis Studios in the UK (two in London and one recently opened in Edinburgh), and currently one service centre in Oxford authorised to do repairs and maintenance, but they plan on adding more.

Journalists who have tested Genesis cars there, overwhelmingly have positive feedbacks (except the digital mirror option on the GV60, where they say it’s not as well executed as on the Audi E-Tron or Honda E, but I believe it was the only thing on the options list I didn’t check) about all the models they tried. The GV60 seems to be the hottest model right now, but they do sell a few GV70s and G80s, both electrified and non-electrified versions. (The G90 isn’t available there.)

What drew me most to the GV60, is the solid reviews of its platform siblings Ioniq 5 and EV6 (I’ve already recommended both to a few people, one of them ending up getting an EV6 and later thanking me for changing her life with that recommendation), combined with the upscale luxury of the Genesis brand. I saw photos of a test mule from Nürburgring, and said to myself “I’m having that!”

Another important feature was several physical buttons for key functions, as well as that control wheel to use the menus and CarPlay instead of having to solely rely on the touchscreen, the latter setting it apart from the E-GMP siblings.

I'm glad to hear this as it'll help grow the brand. And I REALLY hope we get more members here from the United Kingdom. We're starting to get a few here and there - as well as from Australia. Before recently, it was almost all USA and Canada. Nothing wrong with that! But the more, the merrier.

Yes, the GV60 does have some nice advantages compared to the competition. Perhaps they'll improve on the Digital Mirror. I wonder if an over the air firmware upgrade would solve that...

There are already some people on the Genesis UK and Europe Facebook groups that post links to this forum. As long as the group mods there approve of it, that's definitely a good thing.

There are obviously some differences in specs between the different markets as well, such as trim level names, specs of each trim, what's included and optional, etc. This even differs within Europe. (There are three different trim levels offered in UK and Switzerland, and four in Germany)

As for the digital mirrors, apparently, they come standard in Australia.
And I doubt a firmware update will relocate the OLED screens from the top of the door cards to the dash corners where the Ioniq6 has them. :D

That's cool, I'm glad to hear some links are surviving sending people here from Facebook. I don't expect to see many people from Ireland but perhaps a few people who do as you do - and import - will show up. You're going to have one unique automobile over there. That has to be pretty darn cool. Have you considered starting a Facebook group for Genesis owners in Ireland?

What, me and one other GV60 owner, some dude at my work who has an older model, maybe the one hat was just called “Hyundai Genesis”(?), and the Israeli ambassador with her G90? :D

:p Okay, so there's too few Genesis owners in Ireland then. :p I hope that changes some day! The more people see yours, the more are going to be curious. You never know! :)

True. I plan on debadging the trunk lid, just for other people at the public charging stations to get curious, and reduce any threshold that may inhibit their asking. :)

Hmm... How about a wing badge for the rear?

I’ve seen that mod, and I have to admit it looks cool, but I like a “clean” look at the rear.
I have already had people with other EVs ask about it at the charging stations, including drivers of other E-GMP cars, yes!
