  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GV70 Wheel Sizes and Off Sets

I’m going with 20x10 Wheels. I’m curious if anyone else has tried that size.
I'm hopefully ordering and will be test fitting some 10" wheels with +40 offset soon hopefully and will report back. It may or may not go well. With 20x10 +40 you lose 18mm of space inside the wheel well, and add 8mm to the outside.

For reference, if you look at the link below, you'll see a setup with 20x9 +35 and how it looks.

Here is the difference in measurements to the above:

In rolling dia. Difference… what is “as close as possible”

Bimmer runs 5 rev. difference per mile on 21” wheels. I have to imagine turner radius and scrub would account for more then that.

Generally recommended to stay within 3% of diameter of your stock tire. I personally try to shoot for less than that so my actual speed differs less from my speedo.

tiresize.com is a good site to compare difference in diameter speed width etc of two tire sizes.

Let me clarify. I was speaking of the difference between front and rear on a staged set-up.

Im not concerned at the speedo variance.. and dont see other issues except the AWD twist between front and rear

Thoughts on..

I previously had a BMW AWD which would freak out if your diameters were too far off from front to back in staggered setups. The difference in diameter caused enough different in rotation speed the AWD thought it was slipping and it would counter. I would personally avoid any crazy diameter variances, especially front to back.

So you are proposing 265 in front, 295 in back? What is the percentage difference between front and back? 3% rule applies to the difference between front and back. I was thinking you were sticking with stock in the front. If more than 3%, risking AWD issues.

You should try to find the proper ratio to keep overall diameter fairly close front and back, such as 265/35/22 and 305/30/22, however, i cannot speak to fitment, and would need a fairly wide rim, like 10.5 to accommodate the 305s. Personally, not my cup of tea because if you get a directional tire...you have NO rotation options. They have to stay on their respective corners. That's why I always go square set up.

Why not go square, but choose a slightly wider tire, if you don't mind a bit of poke in the front in order to get close to flush in the back? 295/30/22 would be equivalent to the stock diameter.

The Butler GV, it's okay, but personally, 22" is a bit too much wheel, too much elastic band of tire for my taste, and too much sacrifice of ride quality. 21" for me is the sweet spot and I even over sized with 265/40/21 on my aftermarket wheels to add a bit more cushion.

Also, I have stated before, not a fan of solid black wheels. There is no definition unless up close and not moving. Asanti has some decent styles but note that you get what you pay for. Most are CAST, not forged. CAST wheels provide least strength and therefore more likely to crack or bend with impact. Flow forged is a much less expensive process than forged, but provides almost equivalent strength...its a newer process. Means wheel is also lighter. Mine are flow forged and weigh under 20 lbs per.

Luck11. Excellent comment. I too am conferenced with he rubber band look and will move off the 22.

The ratio thing .. im ok with he speedo off a bit. The front to rear difference is within 2% or less

I like the advice of flow forged. I’m looking for a satin finish, maybe mat grey or gloss black.

Which brands do the flow forge?

Not going to lie, I'm kind of digging this GV7 overland concept from Genesis and Delta Geländesport. Lose the stuff on top and this bad boy will tame the worst roads in your particular locale.

The wide body, added lights up front are cool. the rack... not so much.

Australia, Korea, Euro... pretty sure they are everywhere EXCEPT America.

Was out for a walk in my neighbourhood yesterday (north Toronto) and saw a 2024 2.5T with these wheels - car was silver just like John Baxter's photo. They look great and I actually prefer them to the 21" sport package wheels. Based on the Canadian configurator these will be the standard wheels for the 2.5 Advanced Plus and Prestige trims.

Going For:

Vossen 22" H7
9"rim and 265/35 for front
10" for rear 285/35 for rears

car in pic has 10" & 11"

Cant go wrong with Vossen quality. I almost bought a wheel that was identical to the HF5, like in the pic of the GV. Of course you realize that if you have directional tires, there are no tire rotation options. Thats what turns me off of staggered and why i prefer square set up... practicality. It does look good though, to have both back and front flush. Do post pics when you have them on...all angles plse!! :)

you can flip sides... gets you half a rotation as outside is always outside.

"Confirmed". My Canadian-delivered 2024 2.5 Adv+ ordered in 2023, built in Korea, came with these in 21".

My issue with our ride... the wheels are so far from the wheel well surround. Wish it was more compressed like the cars.

Like lowered you mean? If so, I've also often wondered the same. If a luxury sedan can provide a comfortable ride with a 1" gap... why do we need a 6" one on an SUV not currently entered in the Paris-Dakkar?

(Did you know apparently *anybody* can enter...??? Just sayin.😏)
