  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

PROBLEM:
My G80 3.5T Prestige's screen had message that cameras were not receiving signals and also tossed a Land Keep Assist malfunction warning. Maps, radio and other technology frozen with just a green screen.

OTHER MEMBERS STATED:
Similar issues were reported by member Crazyhorse in Jun 2021 for his GV80 and member Sheldon in Jul 2021. Others, like contributor BillZ suggested users do a reset by holding both the MAP and setup buttons together until the screen goes dark so the system will reboot. I tried that and while it did reboot, it did NOT fix the problem. Contributing member G-88862 stated that a software update fixed his issue while contributor Sheldon stated on 5-27-2022 that " updating the firmware (manual, USB method) seemed to help" and stated he only had one screen of death since.
Two other members stated in 2002 that once they turned off the car and locked it and existed the vehicle for a period of time, the system then worked again. I had that same experience that after about 10 minutes I was good to go.

UNHAPPY:
This is what I expect from a car with an MSRP of $74,000. I'm terribly disappointed.

Car problems and features malfunctions really don’t care about what you paid for the car nor whether it be foreign or domestic.
The car is under warranty, get into the service department or contact Genesis Customer Service.
Believe me when I say I understand where you are coming from. I do not believe you have a problem that cannot be solved.

Thanks for the encouragement MHT. I will be arranging for service and let all know the outcome. I can see a problem though. How will service fix of a green screen if that condition is not occurring at the moment I bring it in of service? Usually, they just say they couldn't find anything wrong.

My first move would be to get a hold of MapNsoft and let them know that you need to speak with a tech about an issue with your Navigation Screen. If the tech cannot get the issue resolved by walking you through the steps to reset the navigation system he or she may be better able to recommend what measures the service department might need to take to resolve the issue. I just wish I had documented the steps needed to reset the navigation system.
The reset that you tried was a soft reset of the head unit. You could also try a hard reset of the head units by disconnecting the battery for about 5 minutes and reconnecting it. A hard reset may require you to reset windows, roof and trunk. You will be able to find this information in your owners manual.

MHT, Thank again. I asked my Genesis service tech about the issue who then checked with the shop manage and not surprisingly, neither claim to have seen this issue. I then asked about a reset beside the soft reset of holding the MAP and SETUP buttons for 3 seconds. He said there is another reset for more some issues but "it's a certain sequence that need to be completed to get into another diagnostic type screen for the tech. to the then talk to the engineers." Not sure what that really means or how a mere owner would or should do it. Also. I was told that a TSB (Technical service bulletin) was not issued for this issue. The good news is that my car has not experienced this condition again but I'm confident it will.

Ok, if you get with a MapNSoft Tech they will walk you through what you need to do. They will be on the phone with you to guide you through the process. It really involves no more than 4 steps and it is very simple to do.
If everything is up and working properly, good, but should the issue arise again I would by pass the service department and contact MapNSoft.

Normally with software there is a log created when you have a failure. They should be able to review it and see the issue. There should be no need to try to recreate it until after it's fix from reviewing the logs.
