  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

We've been having issues with our '23 3.3t AWD sport advance.

When using cruise it will activate collision avoidance apply breaks aggressively and deactivate cruise. Sometimes car won't even let us activate smart cruise. But normally what happens is it will allow us to activate cruise, then within a mile or 2 the collision avoidance kicks in. No other vehicles on the road. I've turned off all the babysitters so it shouldn't even be able to do what it does. (Forward collision avoidance off).

Anyone else have any similar issues? We will get it to the dealer but they are 2.5 hours away so anything we can do in the meantime would be great.

Also going to clean windshield as I have read the system there is used in conjunction with the radar piece in the grill.

Thanks for any input!

I had it happen once in my car, 2019 g70. It is not a regular occurrence though. I assumed it was a weird glare or something with the sun. There have been some reports of it happening to others as well.

We live in BFE so we have reflectors alongside our 2 lane roads. I thought maybe it's them. But even if it was, with it set to warning only and collision avoidance off, I would think it would not try to stop the car lol
We currently can't use the cruise because we don't want to get rear-ended 😲

Front radar is toast. Genesis needs to replace it. Mine did the same thing. It's an easy fix.

Thanks for the info!
Going to try to get it in as wife has to travel close to our dealer.
We got it on video too to help diagnose if needed.

Hopefully they don't try to recalibrate.. it's a waste of time. Rip and replace the radar.. problem solved.

This is starting to sound like a defective part that Genesis should be doing a recall on. It's only a matter of time before this causes a serious accident. The potential liability should make Genesis step up.

Car is on way to dealer currently
We hit a deer so they are replacing the headlight and the radar. The tech knew about the issue, asked my wife to explain to him what would happen and agreed it was radar. So they ordered parts, are giving us loaner and then driving car back to us when done. (2.5+hrs)
Will report back when it's all done.
Bergstrom Genesis has been a pleasure to work with so hopefully they keep that going!

Quick update
Loaner car was a G70 with less miles on it than ours. So that's good.
They were just over and hour into returning car to us when the driver has the same cruise issue act up so they turned around and went back.

So far their service has been spectacular and we have no complaints. Yes we would love OUR car back. But until then all is good.

Will update when car is back and what all was done.

So their original fix was to inspect and recalibrate radar and camera. That did not work!
They replaced the Radar the second time around and all is well.

The tech did acknowledge that he's heard of the issue so it wasn't the "We've never heard of that before" BS that I've heard in the past!

Yeah, normal process. Glad it's fixed!

Have the same issue. The dealer replaced my radar and still the same issue. They have now ordered a new camera. We shall see. The service manager talked to his counterpart at Kia and the stinger has the same issue. They have found replacing the camera is the fix. I’ll update when the camera is replaced.

Hope you get it handled
Ours has been perfect since. Went back for our first oil change a few weeks ago and service manager mentioned that we were the first of a few with the issue.
All I can recommend is reiterate 29 times over the conditions that cause the fault. Ours only acted up at night so of course the original recalibration they did worked for them.

Mine does it day or night sunny or cloudy. I have it all on video and have given a copy to the dealer and the factory. It din’t start until the car had 4000 miles on it. Would only do it every few 100 miles. After the radar was replaced now it’s doing it every time o get on the highway 4 times in 20 miles hard braking I had to turn off the cruise so I didn’t cause an accident. The camera is suppose to be in this week.

Car is back and fixed. I will get the information tomorrow and share what was done.
Either way the fact that they delivered the car 2.5 hrs away is awesome!
Dealer in Appleton Wisconsin. Good to know and good for those of us in that area.

I do wish that this forum listed the geographical location of the posters.

Yeah
I think I have mentioned them somewhere, maybe not. I know they are on the compiled list of standalone Genesis dealers.

Went for an oil change and they offered me loaners etc just to go to the Kwik Trip a block away. Lol. They've been very good to us!

I have exact same problem. It happened to me 3 times on my 15 mile trip home the day I picked up the brand new car. I turned all warnings, auto brake as soon as I got home and read the manual, but still does it now and then.

Mine was fine for the first 4000 miles. They replaced the radar and Monday they are replacing the camera. I’ll update with the results.
