  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Vibration at Highway Speeds

They say it should be done by late afternoon today - fingers crossed.
Yeah, I thought that was too good to be true.

Spoke with the service advisor just now - she said the car MIGHT be done by the end of the day tomorrow....

Hi I was told there was no recall for any parts of the GV60. You had a rear shaft replaced under a recall notice?
When was yours produced? That recall is only for cars produced between 06/15/2022 – 02/10/2023. Mine which I bought on 7/24/23 did not have the recall.

Curious as to the driving differences with the eGV70? I did not test drive one. I was considering one as it was only a few thousand more than my GV60P.
+1. My GV60P is now a year old so it wasn't an option for me but I prefer, in general, a smaller car. I believe the electrified GV70 has the same power train as the GV70P.

Drove it a bit more last night.

Best way to describe it is that the suspension feels a bit more "settled/stable" than the GV60P's. The GV60P has more up and down looseness (too little shock rebound damping) than I'd prefer, but the EGV70 doesn't seem to suffer from that phenomenon. It also feels bigger to drive, because it is - the end of the hood is WAY out there compared to the GV60.

And I know it's a false impression, but the EGV70 feels a bit faster in Boost mode. It's not, at least not by measured data, but it somehow feels faster.

Took delivery of a new GV60 late last week and noticed right away there is a vibration at highway speeds which feels like it might be a defective tire or out of balance tire. It's certainly not severe, but it's definitely noticeable. I'm going to bring it back to the dealer who is unfortunately 1.5 hours away. Anyone else experience this, and what was the fix? TIA
My GV60 vibrates at highway speeds also

Hey did you get your car back? I'm curious how your service dept is. Whenever I take my car in I don't see it for days. I really don't mind because they always give me a nice car to drive.

No word yet.

Figured I’d call to check on it tomorrow (Thursday)…

Update: Car was returned to us Friday. Recall work complete but highway vibration still present. Dealer blames out of round tires and won’t address further.

After conferring with my “Discount Tire executive” friend, started a claim with Michelin. We’ll see where that ends up.

Is the vibration you're experiencing intermittent? I have an intermittent vibration in my GV60. Same road and speed, sometimes I feel the vibration, but most of the time I don't. I was hoping the rear drive shaft recall would get rid of it but it didn't. It's very slight and happens less often than it doesn't so I'm not going to chase it.

I had a 2008 Acura MDX that had a bad intermittent vibration. It was so bad when it did happen that I can see my whole leg jiggling. I chased it for a while, new tires and new brakes to no avail and decided to just trade it.

What is really head scratching to me is why the vibration is intermittent. Shouldn't it be there all the time if there's something wrong with whichever part?

Oh just remembered. I had a 1998 Lexus GS400 that also had an intermittent vibration. After multiple attempts to fix it, the dealer informed me a Lexus engineer determined that something needed to be re-welded somewhere on the car that they thought will fix it. I expressed my displeasure and said that the car should've been assembled 100% before I bought it. Lexus bought the car back.

Which dealer is this? Does your service receipt actually state the tires are out of round and they won't address it?

At least with mine the dealer I bought it from did replace one of the tires under warranty after two unsuccessful road force balance attempts. That helped a bit but not that much. With mine the vibration is always there. Most noticeable on a smooth road. Poor road conditions will tend to mask the vibration.

Dealer blames the car having been in storage and literally ignored me when I pointed out that the vibration had been there from the day we brought the car home.

At this point I suspect a bad batch of tires, but we’ll see what Michelin and Discount Tire say.

When I test drove at my local dealer the vibration was really bad. In the end I didn't want the white interior and the manager was unresponsive.

The vehicle I ended up buying has a slight vibration ~70mph. Dealer was unable to reproduce. When it goes in next time I will bring it up again.

Update; Michelin offered full credit towards a new set of tires. Road force balance check showed between 46 and 57 lbs of force on all 4 tires. Anything over about 30 lbs is typically bad enough to warrant replacement. These were BAD.

Because of the way the credit works and the fact that America’s Tire/Discount Tire was involved, I was able to get Hankook ION Evo AS tires as replacements instead of the Michelins.

I’ve been reading about this EV-specific tire on various EV forums, and they come highly recommended by my DT friend, so I thought I’d give them a try.

FWIW, my friend isn’t a big fan of our OEM Michelins, though in general he’s a huge Michelin fan/booster.

The car is now perfectly smooth at all speeds, and the Hankooks feel good at first blush.

For anyone else experiencing vibration, my suggestion is that you have the tires road-force balanced by a reputable tire store, and that you ask them for the numerical results. You’re looking for less than 15 lbs, and obviously the lower the better.

Man. You deserve a medal. That's why we participate in these forums.
Congrats on your perseverance. I'll tell you this though. I'm disappointed in your dealership. They should have been doing all of this for you. Well done sir!

Worked for me as well.

Agreed 100%.

Sending an email to the GM tomorrow and depending on his response, the next message may be to Genesis corporate. Not expecting much, but an apology would be appreciated.

+1 It is amazing to me how far an apology can go and how in often it is offered.

After a bit more experience driving on the Hankooks, I’d have to say that they seem better in just about every respect than the OEM Michelins. The Hankooks seem to provide a smoother, better ride and they’re definitely quieter.

I haven’t pushed the car hard on any twisty roads, but the Michelins weren’t great in that type of driving so it won’t be difficult for the Hankooks to surpass that low bar.

Add me to the list of fans of this tire.

Thanks for the info.
My GV60 came with the Michelins 235/55R19, 105W. (Manufactured week 40 of 22) due to high speed vibrations they were replaced with new ones (37/2023) the high speed vibrations were gone. Still felt vibrations in my steering wheel. Took the car and did the road forced balance. One wheel was completely off and the other 3 had to reinstall different weights. Much smoother but I can still feel vibrations.
Should I insist on changing to a different tire?
Are your Henkooks give you a completely smooth ride?
