If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Vibration at Highway Speeds

We noticed the same highway speed vibration on our Performance from the day we picked up the car new. Dealer has repeatedly tried to road force balance the tires. It's helped a bit but it's still very noticeable. They explained to me that there is no such thing as a perfectly balanced tire and our tires are within the tolerance standards allowed by Michelin and therefore will not be replaced under warranty. Clearly not serious enough to be a safety issue, but it's enough that passengers notice it and comment on it quite often. So aggravating to lay out $70k for a new car and not get that perfect vibrationless new car ride. And it's also embarrassing when your passengers comment on it.

Most definitely. The problem is REAL! I love the rest of the vehicle very much. This issue has impacted how I feel about my ownership experience with Genesis.

Dealer couldn't fix mine either, but NTB was able to fix it.

GV60 Advanced. If you mean which NTB, the one near me in Rockville, MD.
Oh I misread it. I thought you meant a TSB. So what did NTB do to solve it? I had Firestone balance my after the Genesis dealership tried 2x. The Firestone balancing helped but the vibration isn't gone.

Here’s an idea. If it’s possible when it’s vibrating put it in neutral and see if it goes away. That could eliminate a driveline issue and confirm a tire issue.
Like I said previously my vibration always goes away once tires are warmed up. I feel for you. That would drive me nuts.

Yup. Tires may or may not exacerbate the issue... but it's not the tires. There is something wrong back there.
Most of the time that I'm driving, it's not happening, because most of the time I don't drive between 69 and 73 mph. When I do, I'm reminded of the issue, but the rest of the experience overrides that, and I just ignore it.

I was able to try that. While I assume it's not a good idea to shift in or out of neutral while the car is moving, I was able to get the car up to highway speed while in neutral from a standing start on a long hill and the vibration was no different versus with the great selector being in Drive.

In my case I'm fairly confident it's one or more of the tires. I've noticed a slight change in the vibration each time each time I've had the tires rotated. Guess it could also be a bent rim, but the vibration was there from the very first time we drove the car home from the dealer, and if there was a bent rim I would think that would have been diagnosed at least one of the times I had the car road force balanced.

Road force balancing isn’t complicated but is probably 3x the work of a regular tire/wheel balance and I’ve seen shops NOT actually do road-force despite that being on the repair ticket.

Maybe watch them do the work next time if possible to ensure it’s being done correctly?

Just a thought…

Of course anything is possible but one would think the selling dealer actually did the road force balance they said they did at least one of the three times I took it to them for the vibration problem. The second dealer I took it to appeared to be nothing more than a Hyundai dealer masquerading as a Genesis dealer and I would not trust anything they did or said. Finally I took it to a local Goodyear dealer and paid out of my pocket for road force balancing. I really doubt they cut corners given they had a customer bringing a brand new $70,000 car into their shop for a vibration issue that they knew was unresolved elsewhere. And I did see the brand new Hunter Elite road force balancer in their shop.

Understood.
I’ve also personally watched a tech at my local 20-year-trusted tire store start NOT to use the road force feature even when my friend/contact/store manager put road force on the job ticket, despite the fact that we were both there watching…. 🤷‍♂️

Took delivery of a new GV60 late last week and noticed right away there is a vibration at highway speeds which feels like it might be a defective tire or out of balance tire. It's certainly not severe, but it's definitely noticeable. I'm going to bring it back to the dealer who is unfortunately 1.5 hours away. Anyone else experience this, and what was the fix? TIA
I’m having the same problem and getting the run around from my dealer. Can anyone in this forum at that it’s been fixed? And what exactly was done? Believe me, I feel your pain.

What do you mean by "getting the run around"? What did your dealer do and what did they tell you? At least 2 other owners here switched to Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4's (apparently at their own expense) and it solved the problem immediately, although they both did comment that those tires have a noticeably firmer ride (not surprising given they are higher performance tires).

I did a regular balancing of all 4 tires. Maybe they got lucky lol.

I bought my AWD G70 after returning from working in Germany for a year. I had several AWD rental Audis and had plenty of opportunity to travel at over 100mph for miles on the autobahn. I never had a vibration. My G70 when new had a slight vibration that the dealer could not feel with a test drive. I eventually lived with it and it did go away after a tire rotation and I now have 40k miles on the orig tires and have not felt a vibration for a long while. Truth be told I felt the slight vibration about 90 mph and they told me they could not drive the car over the speed limit.

Hi thanks for the information
I’m scheduled to have the car inspected next week. I’ll update. First time around, they test drove the car with me and acknowledged the vibration. They held the car for a day, told me they balanced the wheels and rotated them.

I can’t be 100% sure, but since the rear-half-shafts recall fix this week, the GV60P seems to ride much smoother at highway/freeway speeds. Perhaps that’s the fix for some of these vibration issues.
Hi I was told there was no recall for any parts of the GV60. You had a rear shaft replaced under a recall notice?

I dunno who told you that, but they were likely mistaken:

In a related development, our Valet service loaner arrived this morning right on time, and our car is in for the various recalls plus the highway vibration issue today. They say it should be done by late afternoon today - fingers crossed.

Oh, and the loaner is a very nice EGV70. I took it out for a quick spin and it sure feels different to drive than the GV60.

Curious as to the driving differences with the eGV70? I did not test drive one. I was considering one as it was only a few thousand more than my GV60P.
