  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi

I have a 2015 Hyundai Genesis sedan and I tried replacing the battery. Turns out I had the wrong replacement battery (too small) and I just put back the original battery so I can drive to the mechanics store.

Now, the car shuts off as soon as I start it and the trunk will not open. I also found out that the key in my keyfob is not the right one so I cannot open the trunk with the key. Tried to manually open it from the back seat but I cannot get a grasp to the manual release inside.

1 - Is it possible that removing the battery for 24 hours could solve the electrical problem?
2 - Is there any other manual trunk release inside the car?

Thank you for your help!

coincidentally, i replaced my 2015 genesis 3.8 battery myself recently. turned out the battery was also slightly smaller. i had exactly the same issue as you did - the car would occasionally go "powerless". to make a long story short, i must have pulled on one of the battery cables during my installation and this caused a problem. i had to have the positive battery cable assembly replaced along with a dimensionally correct battery installed. it solved the problem and cost me $750.

In my previous vehicle (BMW), you had to digitally advise the vehicle the battery had been replaced or the charging system would go bananas. Apparently new battery charges different than an old one.

No idea if Hyundai has a similar requirement but throwing it out there for consideration.
