  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am having trouble with my Lexicon system. I am getting a loud noise coming from either the back sub woofer or the amplifier. I do not get the noise all the time. Everything is working fine except for the very loud noise. I can stop the noise by putting out the fuse. I took it into CLARINGTON HYUNDAI (Bowmanville Ontario) and after leaving it with them they refused to fix it and honour the warranty. The only reason they gave me was that it was a business decision. I was stunned and angered. I have been taking in my two hyundai's for years. They have done warranty work before. I have spent thousands of dollar having my cars serviced there. I phoned Hyundai Canada and they told me they can not force a dealer to help me. Has anyone heard of this happening and what do you suggest?

If your car is under warranty and you were appropriate, then their behavior is outrageous.

I was not a ***** about it. I had the disk unit replaced twice and the power adjustments for the steering wheel is not working (switch on order from said dealer). I am a little frustrated but have always been civil. When Hyundai Canada phoned the dealer and asked why they refused service they said that they were not equipped to handle the warranty work. I put a call into the owner Randy Knight but I am not expecting a return call. I feel like telling them that it takes 15 years to build a good reputation in a community like Bowmanville (Ontario Canada) and 15 minutes to starting knocking it down. I am now pretty angry but not sure what to do other than move on and take my business to another dealer.

By the way has anybody had the noise problem and if so what was done about it?

I would call Hyundai back and ask them what they can do for you AND the dealer, since the dealer "is not equipped" to service the car and provide the warranty work required to be an authorized Hyundai dealership. Perhaps they can send a factory representative to the dealer to handle your warranty work. Imagine if all a manufacturer had to do to avoid covering warranty work was to have their dealerships simply say they are not equipped to do the work. I think that Hyundai should be able to assist you and direct you to a facility where they ARE equipped to handle your issue. I would also tell them that the dealer should have disclosed to you before the sale that they are not equipped to handle the warranty work that may be required.

How many miles are on the car? I believe the electronics are covered under warranty for 36,000 miles.?

I did not purchase the car from the dealer that refused to service the problem. They told me to go back to the dealer I bought the car from, which is about an hour and a half from my home. The Clarington dealer is 5 mins. from my home. I am still under warranty I only have 30,000 Kms. (18000 miles). When I called Hyundai Canada and asked to speak to a manager they refused. They said they would pass my concerns to management. They would look at my concerns and then decide if it warranted a phone call back to me. I am not holding my breath. The way they treat their customers, business must be good but for how long? I have no choice but to keep dealing with them for now.

Dont give up. You need to get past the level of person you are dealing with at Hyundai Canada and talk to a Vice President at a minimum. At that level, I can assure you that they care about the Brand and the way the dealers are doing business.

Thanks for the suggestion and the encouragement. I have gone to another dealer in the area and we will see what happens. They seemed very nice and wanted to help out. I am waiting for them to call me. I will give them till Wednesday before I call. I talked to them on Friday.

If the local dealer isn't Selling the Genesis they likely don't have trained service reps.. (I have that problem)... I don't blame the dealer,, actually very nice that they told you they can't service it rather than take your money and do a poor job...

I would go back to the local dealer and talk to the SALES manager.. Ask if they are considering adding the Genesis to their sales.. and if so what is their plan to skill up the service department...

I actually like this story.. This sounds like a good dealer to me...

They have been servicing my car for over a year. They have sold the Genesis although I do not think many. I do see your point of view and worth re thinking my position. I guess I need to find a dealer that is not too far away and can and willing to service my car. Thanks for your thoughts.
