  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2012 Genesis 4.6 I got this car new in 2013, my daughter has been driving it this year who a senior this morning she called me at work saying two lights came on and won't go off, After one of her guy friends at school told her it was the Hazard light she called me. Of course I told her she had to turn them on. Around lunch I took her my truck and I took the car the lights were off.... I get to work and they pop on without touching the Hazard switch. They stayed on about an hour or so.... I disconnected the battery for a few hours, Drove home pulled in the driveway got out the car then the Hazard lights pop on again they been on about 30mins anyone have any idea what's going on.... The Hazard switch does nothing it click as if it's working OK but not affecting the flashing hazard lights.

I'd look for a bad switch, or short in the wiring between switch and Instrument Panel Module (IPM). After that maybe the hazard wire that connects IPM to Front Area Module (FAM).

I’m having same issue with hazard lights coming on at will. After several months they stay on more than off. In addition my drivers side door lock/unlock doesn’t work at all when in close proximity to fob. The fob itself works and locks/unlocks the dr door. The handle was replaced and it still doesn’t work. The horn was coming on at will only at night of course. The hood grommet was changed by dealer and that worked it seems. The horn has come on twice since. Looking at your schematic is it unreasonable to think all these issues might be connected somehow?

A failing FAM could do that. Some have reported that removing, cleaning terminals, and reseating the FAM module helped. But usually when a module goes bad, it goes all the way bad.

I tried removing and spraying with CDC letting dry and putting back and it’s still the same. Is that something I could buy and replace myself?

I’m really stunned. For $42 and change I ordered a FAM off of EBay. Popped it in and low and behold hazards stopped. It’s been such a problem that it seems to good to be true. Thank you for all your help Gunkk.

Glad you got it sorted! (y)

Now I have to sort out the ABS and ESC light that is now on. I ordered a code reader off Amazon and it will be here soon. Brakes still seem to work fine though.

I remember getting my first oil change, I asked about the Shell Helix as my car has a sticker that shows the Shell or Quaker State oil to use. The dealership stated they don't use either which I found odd.

I use full synthetic 5w30 oil, either Mobil 1 or Costco Kirkland when on sale.

The FAM replacement did not work long term. The IPM is being replaced as we speak. The mechanic needs the passcode to complete the install. We have left four messages with service department at the Hyundai dealer. When he purchased the IPM from Hyundai the parts department told him it didn't need to be programmed. SMH. Can you get the passcode from the repair manual?

Now they are just passing the buck. Sorry you are having so many issues. There are a few people on this site that will help with the answer.
