  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Title mostly says it. I've had my 2017 G80 (non-Ultimate) for almost 4 years and used with a Pixel 5 and now a 7. I've updated the maps (and head unit firmware???) maybe 4 times over the few years.

I recently installed the latest update using the Navigation Update application to download and burn the update to an SD card - one of the previous Genesis SD cards that I'm recycling. Download and burn worked fine. Update in vehicle went fine, but...

Now when I push the steering wheel button or the mic icon on the display to get Google Assistant's attention, there is no audible feedback. Previously it would beep and prompt for input. I can still verbally enter input e.g. "navigate to such-and-such" and it will do so, but not verbally tell me. Sending text messages via voice is a complete in the dark process... well the spoken text does display, but not audible feedback. It will also not read my text messages - or at least you can't hear them. Great irritation and sadness has ensued.

I have tried re-downloading and installing the update. Tried installing the previous version of the update (apparently you cannot revert). Reset head unit using the tiny button on the front. Reset head unit to factory via the setup menu. Switched USB cables. Pulled fuses. Disconnected battery and shorted cables. Factory rest the Pixel 7. Nothing works. I tried my phone in my wife's 2017 Santa Fe and it works fine.

Anyone have this issue? Any cure?

I'm actually at the dealer tomorrow for a recall. I'm going to ask them as well.

TIA for any input!

Have you tried turning up the volume knob while it should be speaking to you?

Yuppers. Should have included that as "tried". Thanks for the thought!
