  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The time has come...best wishes to all!

Well, as much as this pains me to say...as a true admirer of the Hyundai Genesis, I must move on. Time to hang up my hat.

For what its worth and for those who question my moderation skills...I have NEVER deleted a post or banned an individual out of spite or harsh feelings for the individual. The ONLY posts ever deleted were those who were reported, a spammer, or a simple mistake such as a double post. The ONLY people I have ever banned are those who post spam.

To FLYBOY2, your post was NOT deleted out of haste. In fact your post would have been just fine had you not referenced and compared me to your immature sixteen year old daughter. Tell me, did you daughter read that comment?? Also, if you consider doing 200 mph in a straight line being a "semi-pro" racer...than I guess I owe you some KUDOS! Congrats on breaking a record! Believe it or not (which you probably wont), as stupid and immature as I may be...182 was my fastest speed on a good ole sport bike of my friends back in 2004 as we were heading from Alabama to take on The Dragon (Deals Gap). Too bad I dont have that one on video and no, I never added anything to the "Tree of Shame". (Google it if you dont know what Im talking about) I also think at one moment you said I was "under-educated." So in rebuttal, check out www.ulalaunch.com. That is what I do for a living. I have 4 degrees in this order; Aerospace Electronics, Aerospace Metallurgy, Aerospace Welding, and Aerospace Structures. We have built and launched over 40 Delta II, Delta IV and Atlas Rockets since my employement and everyone of them were successful in placing our customers hardware in the correct orbit. Our customers include NASA, NRO, NOAA, Air Force and many more. With that being said, do your homework before claiming that someone is "under-educated!" PLEASE!

So I guess YOU WIN! Yes, I could stay and fight it out or simply just get rid of the headache by banning you...but I would be abusing my powers...and I DO NOT do that! I hope you're proud and I hope your 16 year old daughter is proud of her dad as well!

Being a moderator is NOT an easy job...you always have to play both sides of the story and make your moves from there. Keeping everyone's best interest at heart is a difficult job and for those to come after me...good luck as we have attained some real (expletive) troopers here in the last year.

However, most members here are top notch! They think before they post and considers everyone's opinions before posting! I have made several friends here who admire their cars just as much as I do! Yes, to those who enjoy my posts and my thoughts...I'm sorry I'm tucking my tail but I dont have the time or patience to deal with some of these troopers.

Today I went and played a round of golf and every thought was about this forum. I walked off with a 91 at a course I usually shoot in the mid 70's and had grit in my teeth. I got to thinking...why put this pressure on myself over a damn video and a few bad apples??? So my only way out is to just give it up. Some may say...I bet Sal put him up to this...HA! He doesnt have a clue and will find out as soon as all of you do.

As mentioned in several threads and posts littered throughout the forum...I am as easy as they come and its sad to see that a handful of rotten eggs have run me out.

Yes, I may have crossed a little line with my video and posting it here but its funny that Streetfire and Youtube contain NOTHING but illegal activity. The night the video was taken (at 3:00 AM) I did not see another car for 20 miles. So, if you question if it was the best time to do it...hell yeah. I guess if anybody videos themselves doing 10 mph over the speed limit, you are breaking the law and you will be posting illegal activity. EXPECT a comment about immaturity! HA!

For those who question my maturity, this would have NEVER taken place had anyone been in the car with me or if there was traffic. I am NOT that dumb!

If any of you wish for me to hang around...I might, but it will only be if SAL will let me. He knows me...my motives and how I make decisions. He has turned his head on this one because he doesnt want to take a side...which is fine and respectable. BUT, if I do get the vote to stick around and the OK from Sal...there will be several who will be on my list. No, Im not hiding anything here. For those who think I am talking about you...I probably am. Myself and a few others have busted our ASS making this place fun and informative and over the past year it has turned into nothing but a bitch-fest from about a handful of members...and I cant believe WE ARE LETTING THEM WIN! Sorry, but I'm telling it like it is. I dont like to cuss but I guess its the only way to get the point across.

So, with all that being said...Goodbye!;)

I hope that God will continue to bless each and everyone of you! This world in not my home, I'm just passing through and I hope to meet all of you on the other side!

I am not a stressed out person, I do not worry about the things of tomorrow...for today has enough worry for itself. If my right eye causes me to sin...I should pluck it out. With me saying goodbye here...is my way of plucking out my eye. I guess I should sell my car too.:o

Thanks for letting me vent! I'm all good now! Have an awesome day folks and I hope to see you around!

I would say stick around. This is a website for car enthusiasts and all of us have probably had a lapse or two of judgement, I know I have. I don't know of anyone who posts here that hasn't. If not they are being less than honest. What you posted as far as I am concerned was an informational note and nothing more. The relative merits or morality of it really should not be up for discussion and to make it someone's personal crusade is just plain crazy. One would think that there are more important things in life to get upset about. I am accustomed to the meddling of small minded, judgmental people having spent the last 17 yrs living here in the gold buckle of the Bible belt. I would just pass it off as opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.

so r you getting rid of your genesis? whats your next ride going to be?

I am really new here so I hate to comment but here goes.
I found this site to find information on the new Genesis
I learned of after a short time of looking, because my company
car is due for exchange in December when the lease runs out.
Now I am reading of the 5.0 and think I want this car.
Anyway, Matt from what I've seen 95% of everyone here
is either on your side or has no opinion and I believe you
help more than you hurt, therefore don't be such a freakin baby.
Suck it up, take a few days off and be back on Friday to answer
a few questions for some of us new guys.

I say stick around as well, BUT you also need to not take things so personally, even when they are personal attacks...or you'll keep having bad rounds of golf! ;) There are a lot of people on here who appreciate your wild side. The ones that don't should just ignore you. If they don't, you can make me a moderator, and I'll warn them/delete posts so you don't have to look bad deleting things from your own threads.

As a junior member, I would just say blow it off and not let people spoil things that you enjoy doing. The way that I see it, some of what's posted here may not be legal, but it may prevent others from going out and doing the same thing. If someone posts that they took their Genesis out and ran it up to 160 mph, I'm not going to go out and try it too. As I understand it, the top speed for the Genesis 4.6 is 153.7 mph. Why take the risk that somebody else already has. Eveyone should treat others as they would like to be treated. I'm not on track with this, but folks like you is what attracted me to join this forum. Good work, and good luck.:)

Ping don't know if I agree you posting your personal feelings in regards to the matter, but I do praise you, as I looked at every single post from the member in question and really wonder why hasn't the ban taken place as all post are meaningless and without point.

Anyways I do feel that you should not leave but instead make this a learning experience and for the name of the lord dont sell the car. I hope to see you around.

I vote for staying on... if you want to, that is.

Do Not, I repeat, Do not walk away because of inane comments! I along with countless others have enjoyed your videos and comments !!! This is the only forum I read, much less contribute to.......What makes it different is the variety of comments and opinions!
Please don't be silenced !

looks like every once had their say and it was all in the open . Everyone should just put this behind them and move on. I see I said the wrong thing once and I was deleted ( message recieved and rightfully so ) any way, this forum is for everyone who is a Genesis enthusiast and I think that is you ! and I know you have heard this one lol " What doesn't kill us makes us stronger " .

1. Moderators don't get to whine. If you want to whine, resign as a moderator and be a regular member. We get to whine all we want.

2. Stop using a veiled threat to delete posts or ban members simply because they disagree with you. That is an extrordinarily immature style for a moderator. Forum moderators don't get to have personal opinions when acting as a moderator - their only purpose is to insure that the forum is running in accordance with the rules and in keeping with the best interests of the owner.

3. Gain some perspective, and read up on the rules of logic. You seem confused about the nature of reasonable discourse. You will probably decide that my first point is a personal attack. It clearly is not - it addresses your posts rather than you personally. learn the difference and apply that standard when conducting forum business as a moderator.

4. Stop the Swan Songs. If you still enjoy posting here, stay. If you don't, quit. Don't make a post announcing an intention to quit because you allowed your feelings to get hurt, while simultaniously leaving open the possibility that you will stay if enough members express a desire for you to stay.

5. From what I've read of your posts, you seem to be a valuable addition when you aren't posting pouty nonsense. Stop breaking forum rules (especially so long as you are a moderator) and continue to be a valuable contributor - or quit.

6. If you actually get upset over something on an internet forum, take a break. Consider that maybe being a moderator isn't your bag.

Now - nothing in my post is a personal attack. Everything in my post is on-topic for this thread. So, it's a test of your ability to be a fair, even handed moderator. You can let it stand without comment. You can rebut my comments. You can delete my post. Only two of these options are appropriate.

I've moderated Internet Forums. I've been a regular member of Internet Forums (obviously). I've even been banned from an internet forum - because I ran afoul of a moderator that was unable to make the leap from being a member to being a moderator.

Well, I like everyone else wants to weight in on this. I have read the post that has lead to this and I think two simple things…

Was it the wisest things to post the video Matt? Probably not because as was stated it is not showing the most lawful behavior. But with that being said I can’t say I drive the speed limit all the time.

Also, I feel as though some of the individuals who take issue with your posting may either be out to get you or splitting hairs. I have been on this site for just about 4 months and I can’t count how many posts I see about ways to get around/fool/or out right deceive our factory warranty. While those two offenses may be different legally, if the issues is having our site be creditable by what we post looking for ways to doop the manufacturer isn’t going to win us any medals.

But with that being said just take this with a grain of salt, don’t post a video like that again (to keep people quiet), and stay on the site.

What you're stating here is the case on most internet forums. However, things work differently at mine. At my forums, moderators are simply members with additional responsibilities. They're not representatives of the site. The only representative of this site is me. As a moderator, your first responsibility is to enjoy your stay here. Your second responsibility is to moderate. If moderators were paid, I'd expect the opposite. They are not - so I don't...

Another note.. My forums are not businesses. They're hobbies. If an advertiser decides against advertising here, the community suffers - not me. If the community cannot live without the advertisers, than it will be the responsibility of the members to pay the bills to maintain the service. If that doesn't happen, the community is closed.

This site is not owned by a large corporation like most other successful online automotive communities. Most of them are owned by one of two corporations that build new sites on a weekly basis for the sole purpose of generating revenue. My sites are owned by me because I'm an automobile enthusiast. I have an excellent career and business that I thoroughly enjoy. I've been contacted by both of these corporations in regards to buying my sites - and I have rejected their offers.

In regards to the posting of illegal street racing videos, I agree it's not a good idea. However, street races happen - whether or not they're posted on YouTube and linked to from here. If a racing video is posted on YouTube and they allow it to remain free for distribution, than it's their problem if the law wants to come down on somebody. If that's the case, they will be asked to remove the video. I am not liable for links to videos hosted on YouTube.

If PingGolf decides to stay, which I hope he does, I will go over with him what my expectations are in regards to moderator responsibilities. As it stands, he's simply doing what he feels I would do if I were around more often. He makes mistakes, I make mistakes and you make mistakes. Nobody gets it right 100% of the time.

That all begs a question:

He has posted that he will "go after" members that he disagrees with if he decides to stay and remains a moderator. Are you at all concered that, given his demonstrated propenstity to react emotionally to what should be a non-emotional stimulus, he will treat the other members unfairly?

Sarge, what are you trying to accomplish? I can only think of 2 possibilities:
1.) You want him gone (seems like a knee-jerk emotional response to me)
2.) You want him to stay but behave (Sal just said he's going to talk to him...so why do you keep beating the dead horse?)

Just an FYI. I've been running online communities since the mid 80s.. Yes, that's before the internet as we know it. I've dealt with these same types of issues over and over throughout the years. I know what's going to happen before it happens, I know what people are going to say before they say it and I know what people are going to do before they do it. That is arrogant - I know.

Game on....
