If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Was wondering if anyone kept a pair of snowtires on another pair of wheels here? What wheels did you get and what did they cost you? Also what kind of snow tires and what did you pay for those?

WOW, I read all that and laughed my butt off.
Just go to a tire place and use the stock rims.
If you are worried about damage take a picture
of the two rims to be used before and after.
Also rotate from front to back rims every other
year so they get used equally.
I guarentee everything will be fine.

Thanks for the link! - Much more complicated answer than I was expecting. I may just stick with my All Season tires and park it on the bad days.:)
This isn't all that complicated. I opted to get a spare set of wheels to mount snow tires for convenience. I got a set of Bremmer Kraft BR 05 wheels (http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Whee...&wheelModel=BR05&wheelFinish=Black+w/Mach+Lip) and Bridgestone Blizzak LM 60 tires (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Blizzak+LM-60). Total price for all of this, including TPMS for each wheel, was about $1200, plus $100 to my local Goodyear store to mount and road force balance the tires. When winter rolls around I just have to swap wheels, get the TPMS initialized at my dealer, and I'll be ready to go.

I went into Firestone/Bridgestone and they said if I bought winter tires there, that they would mount and remount them whenever I wanted at no charge. The only problem I see with that is how to get the tires there and back each time. I'm not sicking them inside of the Genesis, and they won't all fit in the trunk. Because of that, I'm leaning towards getting a set from tire rack pre-mounted/balanced, and just swapping them myself when needed.

What does the dealer have to do, to get the TPMS initialized?

I am surprised that 2 tires won't fit into the Genesis trunk. I got 2 of my tires into my Lexus GS350 and the trunk is way smaller than my Genesis.

I can get 2 18" wheels/tires in the trunk and 2 in the back seat (I have the nylon carry covers from Tire Rack, so they are clean).

They will put the tires in clean plastic bags for transport, that's how everyone does it that does not purchase spare rims.

Take it from a fellow Minnesotan, you'll be a LOT happier driving your Genesis in the winter if you buy some snow tires. And don't worry about syncing up the TPMS, I've done four bi-annual wheel swaps now, and in each case, the sensors linked up to the car automatically. No dealer intervention required.

As for transporting wheels/tires, if you have clean covers for them, all four wheels fit easily into my back seat (right on top of the blanket I put in there just in case some grease is lurking).

I'm about to put Blizzaks back on my Genesis for its third winter, and I have no reservations about taking this car out into a snowstorm with these tires on. But I wouldn't go around the block with the stock Dunlops in a couple of inches of snow...

2 might fit, but I'd be doing all 4. A guy's gotta turn too right?

Where did you get your TPMS sensors?

From tirerack.com, along with the wheels and tires. At the time, they were charging about 10X what the dealer was, but when the disparity was pointed out, they corrected their price and refunded me the difference.
